Answer:	I’m not sure what exactly you mean. Where the two sides over lap is about 2.5 inches. The gate will open a total of 41.5 inches not counting the side bumpers that fit between door frames.

Answer:	It is strongest when it is in it's pentagon shape. If any angle isn't in a pentagon shape, it isn't sturdy. We make sure it stays in the strongest configuration, and our 1 year old pulls up on it with no problem.

Answer:	Yes I can positively confirm this. I bought two of them and they go together. Though you absolutely need to have them at an angle to each other. Having them at 180 degrees or at a straight line causes stability issues.

Question:	Any suggestions on how to unclip the roller from the hardware when following the instructions does not work? Are my 3 gates defective
Answer:	I am not sure why you would need to do that? I just pull the screen from the roller and put it on the clips.
Question:	Can you connect two together for wider openings
Answer:	Not easily. It wouldn't be impossible, but this isn't made to stretch that far without additional support. If you could put a wood post in the center and attach the latched part to that on both sides, it could be a viable option, but again you'd have two pieces to unlatch to open it and a post down the center! If you're needing something truly that wide, your best bet is probably a baby fence. There might be one of two metal ones on the market that attach with pressure that far of a distance, but your definitely need to have it drilled in with such a distance.

Answer:	Yes, it can, for the safety of the child, I suggest you locking the baby gate when you walk away.

Question:	Could this gate be used for outdoors
Answer:	To answer Anonymous re outdoor use: I bought this gate (and also a slightly different North States gate as well, in a brown metal finish) to use in place of a screen door in my rental in order to let my cat see outside and get some fresh air. I have them both installed in the same door space (one lower, one upper) . The white one has been up about 2 months and the brown one about 9 months---and after a few months, both started to get slight rust stains at the bottom ledge where the slats are welded in. However, I haven't seen the older brown gate's rust get that much worse from month 3 to now (month 9), so I'm hoping that it won't turn into structural damage.The space they're in is slightly protected but does get afternoon sun, damp winds, and rain (though not much rain in this drought year)---I live in the SF Bay Area, in the cooler coastal part of the bay so there's a fair amount of humidity but no snow, sleet, etc. If I could go back in time I'd probably spray them with some kind of sealer before putting them up, but as it is I'll probably leave them up until I move again, and then perhaps recoat with a weather-resistant spray paint when I take them down (not that they're that hard to take down, but...I'm not that motivated to do it now!).If you're considering them for outdoor use, I'd give it a try but be aware that they aren't made for it, and will probably have issues (mine are still cosmetic at this point) sooner or later, depending on your climate.
Question:	Is the latch complicated enough that my toddler won't figure it out
Answer:	The latch for North States super gate is absolutely complicated enough so your toddler won't figure it out! You have to pull down the latch lock/catch while lifting the gate up at the same time to swing it open. A toddler will not be able to do this, which after using the gate for a week, I trust the safety and easy use of the gate!
Question:	Can a cat squeeze through the spacing of the bars, or could this work as a cat barrier
Answer:	No this does not work as a cat barrier. I have a very similar gate that works fine for the cat I'm trying to contain. But I have to go much higher as she can easily jump standard height. Even after I put anti-cat sticky tape on top rung she would climb it as evidenced by bits of fur on the tape. But that one worked. As I was installing this one with Mrs Sapphire inspecting, she waited till I was working on the second level and then just stepped through. After I sighed and stopped Mrs Sapphire from chasing Mrs April I got back measured. The bars on this gate are on 3 inch centers, the bars on the prior gate were 2.75 inch centers. The 2.75inch centers seem sufficient to deter 1year old energetic Mrs Sapphire, The 3 inch centers don't even slow her down.
Question:	Is the metal in the gate magnetic? I want to put a magnet on the wall to keep it open when needed
Answer:	Top and bottom rail are magnetic. My gate does not stay perfectly flush against the wall. It will stay open however, in either direction.

Answer:	Hello! The hardware should come packaged with the gate at the time of purchase. Parts such as the template, hinges, screws, and wall cups are typically replaceable parts. Question:	The opening I want to mount this in is 44in. Will this gate fit with the hardware or does it only extend to 42in
Answer:	With hardware you might be able to make it work but, I am not sure how well will it lock. I have placed wood board over drywall side of my opening to mount hardware to. If it is short you can add nice peace of trim to make if fit.

Question:	Can additional sections be ordered so the gate can be used in a wider space
Answer:	Im not sure about that. It does appear that you could use additional sections but, I don't know if the company sells them. You would need to contact the company and check. Its not a bad product and works well for us keeping our dogs from going upstairs.
Question:	How large are the wide openings at the bottom of the gate? I have cats and don't want them to slip through
Answer:	My 9 month old, 6.5 lb kitten can walk straight through the hinge section of the gate. My 10.5 lb middle cat managed to wiggle her head through before I grabbed her (I have no doubt she could have gotten the rest of her through). I wrapped a piece of fabric around this section which has done the trick. My kitten jumps to the top, balances and then jumps down. My older two cats who have been fighting, have not attempted to jump over to get at each other to fight, which was the purpose of the gate. When I want a little extra security, I hang a piece of fabric up another foot and a half from a couple command hooks. I don’t think most cats are going to try to jump through something.
Question:	How wide is door
Answer:	Just bought and installed this in my window so my cat won’t fall through the screen. Opens in so even if he pushes against it he won’t fall through, and I can still operate the sliding window fully. The largest two spaces are 2.75” apart, where the gate meets the side pieces. All other gaps are 2.25”. The only other gap is between the sides and your wall, but depending on how wide your space is, you can add and subtract on the sides. There are 4 side modules that you can add to just one or either side in any combination, or not use them at all. I have a 45” wide window (large wood casement all around), so I have just the gate on the right side where window opens, and used all 4 side modules together on the left. This leaves just under 2” gaps at each side, installed. So if your dog’s head cannot fit out the largest gap, 2.75”, and you keep the end gaps as small, then this will work. Install so the window opens in, obviously! I got the bronze, and it is a perfect match to the room. Looks lovely with the arched design. My large Ragdoll cat is happy just poking his nose through the slats and spreading out in the sun, listening to the birds he can’t catch, and I can open the window all the way now without him jumping at the screen anymore.
Question:	The gate is advertised as 36" tall, but at what height are the upper mounting points? My banister is only 35" tall

Question:	We received this gate with the top having about a 4 inch gap where it should clasp on top. Is there something we are not doing to get this to close
Answer:	It is normal. Just tighten the wall screws and that will push the gate inwards from both sides making the gap close. But you need to do some real tightening for that.

Answer:	16.5" gate opening
Question:	is this gate auto close
Answer:	Yes, this gate has great features. It has both stay open and auto close features. It is engineered to stay open when opened, but with a small push will completely shut and lock.
Question:	How wide is the actual part you walk through? I have some large family members
Answer:	At the top, with the gate open, the measurement from the hinge to the latch is exactly 17" (on mine). But that will depend on how much tension you have dialed in with the top two tension knobs. Could be a little less or more. The opening below the latch and hinge is 18.5" to 19", again, depending on how the upper tension knobs are set.

Question:	Is 28.75" the height of just the gate, or of the entire thing assembled? We have 30" to work with and the entire assembled product needs to fit within
Answer:	it's 28.75 inches tall and will work in extra wide spaces if needed.
Question:	How wide needs to be the the door frame to mount this gate
Answer:	24" per the manufacturer - although it would work I would think 25-26" would be a simpler fit.
Question:	Our banister is round, will this work for us
Answer:	We had someone install square, solid (4x4”) posts inside the top and bottom of our stairs to just use as baby/pet gate supports.
Question:	Can this be mounted on an angle
Answer:	I’m not sure what you mean by angle. One of the 3 gates that I installed was in a hallway that had 1” molding on both sides of the floor. The top of the gate is 38”across , the bottom of the gate is 36” across. There is enough adjustment in the mounting bolts that this is not a problem. The gate is level and works well.

Question:	Curious what the distance is from the floor
Answer:	if you do not have molding in the way, it can be installed at less than an inch from the floor.
Question:	How far away from the floor will this get? Will this work to keep ferrets out
Answer:	It’s great for ferrets! I had to mount it much closer the floor than the instructions state so they couldn’t squeeze under, but it works perfectly. Unlike many other gates there is nothing for the little stinkers to latch onto and climb up. Be warned though, if one of your little furries is a really good jumper, you may need to find an alternative.
Question:	How close can you get this to the floor? I have ferrets and want to keep them out of the laundry room. I dont want them to be able to squeeze under
Answer:	About 1/2" is the closest you can get with a hard floor. Ours is installed on carpet and I put the wall brackets about 1" off the carpet. The lock can be tricky to operate one handed but the gate works well.
Question:	Does it come with something to mount it to a banister? Or do I need to find something separately
Answer:	it has no extra fittings but I would say one side will go on the wooden banister and the other on the wall,
