The only reason I am keeping it is because I have a 20lb mostly blind dog and not an active toddler. |

| Answer: | This has four cups (pockets) that need to be screwed to a surface which accept the threaded adjusting arms. These are used to keep the gate in position and the arms from sliding if someone or something pushes against the gate. I would not trust it being installed without the cups. |
