Answer:	Yes. It can even be set up to open in both directions (toward you, or away from you). One of the crews for the latch rusted on mine, so I recommend investing in stainless steel screws if it’ll be outside.

Question:	Is this sturdy enough to keep a baby from falling down stairs? When closed
Answer:	It really depends, honestly. I think it would keep mine from going down the stairs, but my kids are fairly “gentle” compared to some other kids I know. Some are complete cannonballs and are hard to stop with anything other than a proper door. The manufacturer does specify a distance to be installed away from the first stair, as the barrier has a little bit of slack in it, so if clearance is tight it may not do the job.

Answer:	Just purchases two if these gates for my porch to confine my dogs. The gate is 27 1/2" high.The installed height will depend on how far off the floor you mount the brackets. I have Dachshunds and Chihuahuas so U mounted my low so they could not go under the gate. It is mounted 1 1/2" off the floor (or deck in this case). That now makes the installed height 29". If your dog is bigger, you will be able to raise the mounting brackets high enough that your dig cannot go under and not hopefully not jump over. So far very pleased with the gates. Only complaint is one of the set screws would not set as it was stripped.Hope this helps.

Question:	Does this gate require two hands to opperate? Turning the knob with one hand while pulling the gate with another
Answer:	I'm not sure why there are varying answers to this, maybe the product changed? But mine requires two hands, you must push in and twist, then hold while you pull the gate open. To avoid this I twisted the knob and then shoved a thumbtack into the gap at the bottom of the knob, that works just fine for holding the knob in place.
Question:	The top clip to the retractable baby gate has snapped in half
Answer:	First the bottom, in my case -- and after a 'hack-y' fix that lasted another week -- now the top has broken. Doesn't look like a replaceable part -- I've spent a lot of time thinking on how I could "add some hardware" to simulate the missing clips. A shame - because I liked the gate, in concept. Definitely wasn't up to the abuses of regular use and an enthusiastic puppy.
Question:	Does it lock in place when expanded? In other words, does it stay in place if a baby try’s to push it
Answer:	The gate latches to a wall catch plate that holds it while extended. If a baby pushes on the gate or falls on the gate while extended it will flex as the retractable roller does not lock in place. We use these gates as dog barriers and my dogs jump on them all the time, it will flex and then return to use position.
Question:	Does the 71 inch width include the mounting brackets
Answer:	Be VERY cautious if you are buying this for a large opening. Yes it does extend to 70-71 inches (not 72)... however, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: you need to twist the knob on the left side of the screen before it retracts, and at the same time use your right hand to unhook the screen on the right side. This is a safety feature to make it hard for little kids to retract the screen, it makes it nearly impossible to use for a very large opening, unless you have like a 7-foot wing span and can reach both end of the screen at once. I'm going to contact amazon for a refund because this is not mentioned in the listing info. While it does technically extend to close to six feet, it is not practical at all to use for a six foot opening. (and unfortunately I didn't find this out until it was mounted and I drilled 8 holes in my wall.)

Answer:	I would not recommend this. There are crib "toppers" especially made for this issue. If one side of the crib is higher, move the lower side to the wall. Lower the mattress as far as it goes. Or move the toddler to a mattress on the floor or a twin bed. Childproof the room. Suggest using a night light, unscrewing bulbs from ceiling light (if child can reach the light switch). Question:	What is the weight rating? Can this be used instead of spindles in between posts
Answer:	Not positive of weight but can tell you all my dogs will lean up against the netting at the same time, so that would be about 40 pounds of pushing. The key I think, is to take your time by evenly spacing the zip ties. In other words loop it through the square as close to the railing as possible, so not any extra chance of breaking the netting. We also used 3 ties every 8 inches or so tied to the railing. Hope that helps answer your question!😊

Answer:	Hi- I specifically bought this for my cats. I live on the 4th floor of an 8 story building, so kind of high up. Now that the weather is warmer by me, my cats sit by the screen door and just itch to go outside! Before I bought this, my one cat snuck out and went through the slots on my balcony and was walking on the edge nearly giving me a heart attack to say the least. Anyway, that’s what struck me to buy this to cover my entire balcony. Now I can have them go outside without worrying! It works great- I still supervise them obviously because “curiousity killed the cat” and my one is a climber so I don’t want her to crawl up the netting. Overall, it makes me feel much better about having them on the balcony. 5 stars. Hope that helps!

Answer:	Only with this product: the gate is extra tall, and can fill the gap (up to 70 inches) between walls at the top of the stairs where I have it. Where the gate attaches to to one wall permanently, a knob can be turned to lock the gate on the other side where the gate has latches at top and bottom of the gate. These hook into the catches (with a bit of effort). Then the knob is turned to lock the gate closed. Because the latches are at top and bottom, the mesh of the gate is held rigid so animals and babies can't crawl under it. If in doubt add a weight at the middle of the bottom of the gate for extra security.
