We cannot suggest using 3rd party items like pads or other mattresses. The Room2 already includes a Mattress, Waterproof cotton sheet and carry case, so it should include everything you would need.

Answer:	That's a good question. We like everything about it. If there was one thing maybe make the pad thicker but it was comfortable for our 3 1/2 year old granddaughter to sleep on and she slept good.

This is a great for sleeping in too with the soft 100% cotton sheet and padded mattress. I found it especially helpful to keep one at our in-laws house who didn't really have a baby proof room.
