Answer:	When collapsed (the actual diamond 'stone' rod inserts into the handle) it's roughly .5" around and 4.5" long. The tool, when extended, and the 'stone' is screwed into the handle, it's about 8" long. I can't tell you about the case, but figure it's 4.5" long and about 1.5" wide, but I didn't keep the case as I don't need a case with it.

Answer:	Rod measures 1/4” across by 3 1/2” long! This seems identical to the one i have from 30 yrs ago except the case in the old one is leather and this might be synthetic! Quality is very good ! The grit of diamonds sharpen very well! I hone or straup on some of my knives to illiminate the diamond scratches! It is a medium grit steel, aggressive but not to much!
