Transitioning

In the early days after birth, babies have a startle reflex that can often wake or disturb a sleeping baby - a swaddle such as the Cocoon will help prevent this from disturbing their sleep.

As soon as your baby is able to roll over, you should stop swaddling.

Every baby develops at a different pace, but this usually happens from around 3 months of age. Our Cocoons have been specifically designed to make this transition easy for you. When your baby is ready, just undo the poppers and allow one arm out. Once your baby is used to having one arm free, you can release the other arm and continue to use your Cocoon as a sleep bag.

Material

All our swaddle products are made from a stretchy fabric to allow for natural movement. We find that babies will naturally wriggle their arms and hands into a position that is most comfortable for them. The Cocoon products don't place arms down at the side like some swaddles do.

Safe sleep guidelines suggest you should have as little as possible in the cot or crib and so we have made our Cocoons available in three tog (warmth) ratings. By choosing the right Cocoon for the temperature of your nursery, you can avoid using blankets altogether.

Our cocoons are suppose to have a firm fit around the shoulder and chest area. It is important that the baby doesn't go inside the cocoon and cover their face.

A good way to test if it too tight is to see if you can fit 2 fingers inside the neck opening, if you can then it is a correct fit. If you are still uncomfortable with the opening being small we suggest to undo the zipper about 1cm down.

TOG Rating

A TOG is a unit of measurement for insulation and warmth of sleepwear and bedding. Put simply, the lower the TOG rating, the lighter the fabric. The higher the rating, the more padded and insulated it is.

You would choose a suitable TOG based on the temperature of the room your baby is sleeping in. Our TOGS are suitable for the below room temperatures:

Answer:	You want to match a babies sleep sack to your chairs? That might be the most absurb thing I have ever heard. your cushions are grey and the sleep sack is blue stripe.
Question:	Is it an issue if a baby's feet touch the bottom of the sack? My daughter is long and seems to be between sizes at the moment
Answer:	No. They aren't super easy for an adult. We never undo the snaps, slipping our daughter's arms out, and I don't think she even knows they are there. Plus it would be an awkward angle to get good leverage. Of course, toddlers are sneaky so your son may be different. At 2.5, my daughter has learned to unzip it and and get out. She doesn't do this at night because I think she understands she sleeps in it now. She's as attached to her sleepsack as her lovey. However, she can't unzip other brands that zip bottom-up on the side, but I also let her help unzip it for months. She only does this when we go in her room. She has us sit so she can take it off before getting her out of bed. She can undo the snaps on the other brand we have now as they are normal, smaller snaps. These are more button-sized and much harder to open. Good luck!

Answer:	I keep it between 70-72. It doesn't compare to fleece at all. This one breathes at the same time that keeps the baby warm and cozy. I'm sure you can keep it colder or a bit warmer in the room and baby will be fine. Looks warmer than others but the material is such quality it doesn't make them sweat. On my top 5 baby items ever. ( they should hire me I always recommend them)

Transitioning

In the early days after birth, babies have a startle reflex that can often wake or disturb a sleeping baby - a swaddle such as the Cocoon will help prevent this from disturbing their sleep.

As soon as your baby is able to roll over, you should stop swaddling.

Every baby develops at a different pace, but this usually happens from around 3 months of age. Our Cocoons have been specifically designed to make this transition easy for you. When your baby is ready, just undo the poppers and allow one arm out. Once your baby is used to having one arm free, you can release the other arm and continue to use your Cocoon as a sleep bag.

Material

All our swaddle products are made from a stretchy fabric to allow for natural movement. We find that babies will naturally wriggle their arms and hands into a position that is most comfortable for them. The Cocoon products don't place arms down at the side like some swaddles do.

Safe sleep guidelines suggest you should have as little as possible in the cot or crib and so we have made our Cocoons available in three tog (warmth) ratings. By choosing the right Cocoon for the temperature of your nursery, you can avoid using blankets altogether.

Our cocoons are suppose to have a firm fit around the shoulder and chest area. It is important that the baby doesn't go inside the cocoon and cover their face.

A good way to test if it too tight is to see if you can fit 2 fingers inside the neck opening, if you can then it is a correct fit. If you are still uncomfortable with the opening being small we suggest to undo the zipper about 1cm down.

TOG Rating

A TOG is a unit of measurement for insulation and warmth of sleepwear and bedding. Put simply, the lower the TOG rating, the lighter the fabric. The higher the rating, the more padded and insulated it is.

You would choose a suitable TOG based on the temperature of the room your baby is sleeping in. Our TOGS are suitable for the below room temperatures:

0.2 and 0.3 TOG = 75ºF+

1.0 TOG = 70ºF+ to 75ºF+

2.5 TOG = 63ºF+ to 73ºF+

3.5 TOG = 57ºF+ to 70ºF+

However, when traveling to a location where critters like ticks, mosquitoes, chiggers, mites, and other kinds of insects are a concern, many of our customers choose to treat their travel sheets with a clothing insect repellent that contains permethrin for additional protection. Permethrin repels insects but kills ticks, mosquitoes, chiggers, mites, and more than 55 other kinds of insects on contact. It has also proven effective against the Yellow Fever Mosquito, which can transmit the Zika Virus.​ Permethrin is a synthetic molecule similar to pyrethrum which is taken from the beautiful Chrysanthemum flower. Answer:	The pouch itself is 8 inches by 6 inches and, when filled with the sheet, less than 2 inches in thickness. Brave Era designed its silk carrying pouch to hold the sheet easily after each use. One of the most annoying things about carrying pouches for compact products is that it can be difficult, even sometimes impossible, to get them back into their bags. We kept this in mind when designing Brave Era's silk pouch. There is no need to fold the sheet up neatly in order to fit it back into the bag. The sheet will fit easily back into the pouch, even when stuffed in unfolded. It's truly amazing to see a sheet designed to fit a man up to 6'6" tall fit into such a tiny carrying pouch.
