As soon as I tried an organic applesauce from the store, it worked absolutely perfectly. I would suggest straining whatever you intend to put in the spoon through a sieve first to avoid frustration while traveling.

Answer:	Well I'm plus size as well and there was enough room for me to pull the cover out to see the baby, however it didnt stay gapped really to constantly see. So I always had to pull it back if I wanted to check on the baby. I know some apron style ones are a stiffer fabric so they stayed gapped, but this one does not. It didnt really seem to be much of a problem for me though, especially once I got the hang of breast feeding.
