Answer:	I wouldn't try connecting one to it if that's what you're asking, I'm sure it could handle it but it's not worth the risk of hurting the mic itself. Instead set your shield behind the artist since that's where the mic is facing -- what happens behind the mic isn't nearly as audible as the area behind the artist.

Answer:	Yes. Depending if you put it on the main column, the clamping screws need to be long enough - it's a fairly large dia. or I think it could hold one using the main boom section. I have my screen mounded on a heavy duty atlas with no trouble. I also have this stand and it would work just as well. I've even put a 7 lb. video light on the boom with no trouble.
