Answer: I was unable to quickly confirm the units are built using a 50 Hz cycle. Most likely they are and if this is true, it will not present an obstacle. The charger should work in Europe. You may have to build a little plug converter for it.

We bought the NEMA6-20 plug with level 1 adapter unit. The product was shipped well and arrived as scheduled. A couple of key things we like over the factory supplied charger: The wall hook to easily wrap the cord around and the "gun" holder you stick the charger into while it is not charging in the car. It's light weight and smaller than our original charger. It is nice to be able to easily adapt to the charging outlets available. We charged on 110 until we bought the 220 outlet and it was a simple switch for us. That option was available on the factory charger. We are happy so far!

Answer: Yes, you may leave the charger plugged in. The charger does not place high voltage on the terminals until it senses it is connected to the car. You may want to consider purchasing a "EV charger plug nozzle holster dock" to mount on your wall, so the charge cord is always supported and out of harm's way when it is not connected to the car.

Answer: NEMA 6-50 refers to the plug on the wall. So if you have that on your wall, then it should work. I believe the Chevy Volt uses (like most plug in vehicles except Tesla) use the J1772 connector.
Question: is it safe to leave charger unit plugged in all the time even if not charging the vehicle
Answer: we mounted ours outdoors and have not had any problems yet. as a precaution I sprayed the seams of the inline charger box with flex seal and zip tied it to a bracket. I also zip tied that plug holder so that water will not enter the electrical plug. hope that helps.

Question: This charger is rated up to 50 amps. Is it auto sensing or it a manual switch? More to the point, what wire size is needed
Answer: The charger can deliver up to 50 continuous amps, which would require a circuit wired for at least 60 amps (60 amp circuit can deliver 80% of rating, so 48 amps). 60 amp circuits at 80% require 6 gauge wire. You set the maximum capacity of the charger when you configure it on the ChargePoint amp. EVs only draw the amount they are capable of charging at - so 9.6 Kw for most EVs except Teslas (240 V times 40 amps) New Teslas can draw above 50 amps, so that is what the max setting on the app does - it limits the safe output to the circuit capacity. There is no manual switch on the charger, it is all set through the app.
Question: Is it possible to extend the nema 14-50 plug cable length by swapping it like you would a dryer
Answer: This is why you need to research electrical codes or use an electrician. The 12” requirement in NEC 625.22 mandates the 12” applies to the “personal protection system” location to the plug not to the cord length from plug to vehicle that requirement is a minimum of of 6’ and max of 15’. Just google NEC 625 page 4 section 625.17 for more details
Question: Can it be set to charge to a certain percentage of charge? Like charge my battery to
Answer: No. I set the charge limit to 70% in my vehicle (I can also do 80% or other value). Then I set the charge time (10pm-6am) in the ChargePoint app. An alternative is to have a short charge time (say 10-12pm). The charger does not know how much the vehicle is charged.

Answer: Hi there, Before you set up ChargePoint Home using the ChargePoint mobile app, the default amperage is set at 16A. Question: It looks cheap and it is cheap why get this one instead of a juice box pro
Answer: It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that come with a first rate level 2 EVSE or station. If you are a, "Plug it in when I get home, and unplug when I get ready to go, the "bells and whistles" That come with the more expensive units are just features you pay for but don't use. I use mine on a LEAF S, and my electric service costs the same day and night, no need for connectivity or scheduled charging. Well satisfied. $200 vs. $400 to $600, your choice.
Question: A silly question, but is it OK to leave the charger plugged in into the wall outlet when the car is not being charged
Answer: It is okay to leave the charger plugged in when not using it. The only thing it will do is draw very, very little power. It will not be a drastic difference on the bill, but electric companies recommend not leaving it plugged in.

Answer: Hopefully the supplier will be able to give the answer b/c I as a buyer cannot say. I haven't had any safety issues, breakage, weak material, bad construction or anything so far even after being in the rain and snowed on . Very well made.

Answer: Please note that a 20A rated breaker (the one in your panel) will allow 80% continuous current, so 16A maximum. Therefore max theoretical KW output would be 3,840 watts or 3.84KW. However, voltage at your receptacle is probably somewhere between 220-240V. So your max output may vary. Also note that the charger itself has a maximum rating.

Question: How fast should i expect my ford fusion energi to charge with this when the battery is empty
Answer: The fusion energi has a ridiculously small range.. With that said it would charge by 2018 volt battery in about 3 hours, which gave me about 58 real world miles. I would expect if your fusion on board charge controller allows for level 2 charging and you are using 240v it would be even faster than that. I would not recommend this product though, I sent mine back because it was Not charging the battery efficiently and reducing my overall mileage ( only getting half charge). This is not a quality product and I wouldn't waste your time and money on it.

Answer: It has a TUV international rating which is equivalent to the UL in the United States

Answer: A nema 6-20 plug is what mine came with. I recommend going by the listing description, Which does advertise a 6 - 20 plug which is correct. I believe they offer different plug variations so they are probably using the same picture on each listing and it does seem confusing. Just make sure when you add the item to your cart and you check out that the item description remains a 6-20. On a positive note I can tell you from 1st hand experience that their customer service is excellent and if there were any issues they would solve them right away. I've been very pleased with my charger.

Answer: Everyone says three inches, but the part you need to know is the size hole to cut. You will need a 2" hole saw to fit this, I mounted it on the drivers side fender, forward to the front wheel well. You'll also need some stainless steel screws and a normal drill bit to make mounting holes. (actual diameter of penetrating part is 1.92", so with a little room for proper fitment the 2" hole is perfect.
Question: On a diesel pickup,after having this installed and in the weather for a while, does the protective cover stay in place while driving?Any other issues
Answer: I installed on Trailready bumper by drilling thru 1/4” steel on my Dodge. Hooked up dual (2) battery warmers, block heater, engine oil pan and transmission pan warmers and trickle charger. Only mod I did was to add an inline LED indicator (in addition to the LED on the extension power cord) as redundant power connection indicator. VERY expensive to thaw out a diesel truck once frozen to -35 or more. So far flawless performance and impressively cover stays flexible and good seal with temps never getting above -30 F for last 30 days. Cover was noted to be flexible at -45. Connecting and disconnecting several times daily. NO issues, would highly recommend.

Question: The manufacturer's website says it requires a 40-amp fuse for protection. Has anyone had experience plugging into a 30-amp fuse
Answer: Ok from the NEC you are required to run 40 amps for this device. Then what should be done is place a 30 amp disconnect before the device. So from the panel you will run 8 gauge wire to support the 40 amps. Then that will terminate in the disconnect which would be fused at 30 amps. So if the devices pulls more than 30 it will blow the fuse since this device shouldn't be drawing MORE than 30 amps.
