What is OBD-II?

On-board diagnostics (OBD) is an automotive term referring to a vehicle's self-diagnostic and reporting capability. Vehicles produced after 1996 use OBD-II, which is a standardized system that simplifies the process a whole lot. These vehicles all use a common diagnostic connector and a set of universal trouble codes. Though only emission-related codes and data are required to be transmitted through it according to U.S. legislation, most manufacturers have made the OBD-II Data Link Connector the main connector in the vehicle through which all systems are diagnosed and reprogrammed.

At the most basic level, the check engine light indicates that some sensor, somewhere in your engine, exhaust, or transmission, has provided unexpected data to computer. That could indicate a problem with the system the sensor is responsible for monitoring, a bad sensor, or even a wiring issue.

Why I can't erase the fault code?

Once the monitors are reset, the MIL will either remain out because the DTC was corrected by the proper repair, or it will illuminate because it has again detected the problem.

There is even a button on the device that can select this directly without having to navigate through the menus.There is also a lamp on the device that indicates if any emission monitor is not ready.It is my understanding that the requirements for I/M readiness for each vehicle may differ from state to state.I had a problem with an air monitor coming ready after I identified, resolved, and cleared the underlying code. It took miles of specific type of driving to clear this monitor status (which cannot be cleared by the device.)When I returned to the inspection station I was informed that all monitors are not required to be ready to pass New York state inspection, and that my extra driving for this situation was unnecessary.

Answer:	There are many in the app store but for this specific piece , the app should support the Bluetooth connection not WIFI

Answer:	It does on my xterra. The ECU also pulls power when the vehicle is off. I've not had issues with it using any more power than a phone charger.

Answer:	Your ABS light is flashing because it is relaying real-time data from your vehicle to the device and is temporarily in default mode.. just make sure you remove the device before driving your vehicle

This code reader works on all 1996 and newer OBD2 cars, light trucks, SUV's, hybrids, and minivans. Answer:	Thank you for your question. This tool will have free future updates, but cannot be guaranteed for life. This tool was just released less than a year ago so tool is already up to date. The next available update will be sometime next year. The updates will always be free.
Question:	Does it come with charger
Answer:	Thank you for your question. The 3160RS never needs to be charged so no charging cable is required. The 3160RS and all of our code readers link to a vehicle through that vehicle's 10-15 amp accessory fuses. If any of the vehicles accessory fuses are blown, tool will not link to vehicle. Batteries for this tool are not needed as well. Batteries are optional and are only used to pair tool to Bluetooth/Wifi without being linked to vehicle, and to look at stored information in tool if not connected to vehicle.

Answer:	Thank you for your question. Yes, there is a light at the end of the DLC cable plug.
Question:	What are the differences between the 3160rs and the 3160g
Answer:	Thank you for your question. The 3160RS will support TPMS, steering angle reset, EPB, ABS brake bleeding, transmission temperature, oil level, oil life, and brake pad life for most 1996 and newer vehicles. The 3160G doesn't offer any of these features. The 3160RS just came out less than a year ago and will have free, future updates. The 3160G has been out for almost 5 years now. The 3160RS uses are RS2 app which is only compatible with a smart phone or tablet. The 3160G uses our original RS software which is compatible on a computer, laptop, or smart phone.

How to update the FX2000?

Update this scan tool via USB cable or TF card, here's the upgrade guide via USB cable following.

Step 1: Before starting the upgrade, please connect this device to a computer via the USB cable, and make the network connection stable. (It supports WIN XP, 7, 8, 10 operating systems.)

Step 2: Download the update software from ANCEL official website (refer to the manual) and install it on a PC.

Step 3: Open the software tool, select the connection mode “USB” and click “OK” to continue. The "Product Serial Number" will be read automatically, then hit “Device Upgrade”.

Step 4: Move to the register page, type your email address and Register Code will be read automatically, then hit “Submit”.

Step 5: Click “Select All” and click “Download” to start downloading.

Step 6: When the 2 progress bars reach 100%, the upgrade completes. Click “Quit” and disconnect the USB cable.

Please Note:

• If the screen freezes during the upgrade progress, please disconnect the USB cable, and try it again.

How to check if the FX2000 has installed the latest software?

• Connect the FX2000 to a computer and open the update tool. If the local version is the same as the latest version, it has installed the latest version of the software.
