Installing the window insulation is easy. You simply unfold the film and cut it to the width of the window, allowing an extra inch on all sides. Then you apply the film to the tape, starting at the top of the window, and reposition and stretch the film to remove wrinkles. Finally, you use a blow dryer to remove any remaining wrinkles, then trim any excess film.

Question:	I am from the South, so my big question is, does it insulates from heat so well as it does from cold
Answer:	Short answer: It does not insulate well from temperature exchange through your window, but it does prevent air exchange, so it can dramatically reduce your heating/cooling bill if you are constantly having to condition fresh air from outside.Long answer: I have used this in a warehouse office where we kept it up year-round (because the landlord was too cheap to replace 50+ year old windows). Just keep in mind; First, with less air exchange, make sure that your HVAC has a good filter system, and that you replace it regularly to prevent buildup of allergens/mold in the home. Second, if you live in a particularly humid area then this can result in water (and mold) buildup between the plastic and window during warm weather, which is bad (using the exterior version of this product may work better). Third, these are great to save a few $$ and keep the house more comfortable during extreme weather for a few months, but they are not a good long-term solution. The tape gives out, the plastic can yellow or haze over time, you lose the use of the window, it is easy to disturb and ruin... generally not a good long-term game plan. If you need a more permanent solution then consider using clear caulking to seal the seams/cracks in your window (assuming it is not against safety/fire code, remember you typically need 2 exit points and many rooms only have 1 door and 1 window), or else consider replacing the window.
Question:	How does this hold up compared to frost king
Answer:	This holds up much better then frost king... I have never had frost king last a whole season on my windows but the 3M lasts no matter how long the cold season has lasted. I will never go back to using Frost King again.

Answer:	I would assume so, though we live in Maine near the coast where it can be in the teens and 20s sometimesduring the weather; I assume it would work since 3M is an excellent product - the hardware versionsdon't seem to work as well. You'll need the 3M tape for this as well.

Answer:	First, I want to make it clear that covering windows with a shrink window kit is usually well worth the time , money, and effort. It cuts heating costs and makes the house more comfortable. I have been doing this for more than 10 years. I apply new shrink plastic each year and have never had a problem till last year. In previous years with other brands (or maybe even this brand) removal of the tape wasn't a big deal. It usually held pretty good through the winter but when spring came it was easily removed. I don't know if the tape that comes with this kit has been improved. I saw other reviews that said what they bought wasn't sticky enough. The packages I bought (which were not bought on Amazon) had tape that was over the top sticky. I do not plan to buy this brand again. When I phoned the company to ask how to remove it I think they recommended heat and WD-40 which sounded extreme to me. It was way more sticky than other brands I had ever used. I questioned it when I applied it to my windows but decided that maybe it would last through the winter better. It has been a mess and time consuming to trying to get it off. In the past, I think that I have bought 3M double sided tape (which is often found in the winter insulation area of big box stores) when I have run short on what was included in a box of shrink window kit and had good luck. Looking at the choices on Amazon there are so many, I wouldn't know where to start with a suggestion. If you decide to buy it, I would suggest at least checking the tape before you get much applied by putting it on the intended surface, putting some of the shrink plastic on it, leave it for a day (and you might not even have to wait that long), and then try pulling it off. It is kind of a fine line between not being sticky enough and too sticky. If you are having difficulty removing it, I would look for a different double sided tape to use.
Question:	Does it have to be reapplied every year? Why
Answer:	If you want to open your windows in the warmer months, you'll need to take it off. Otherwise, sunlight and normal stress can also make the tape fail eventually. For a good seal, it's probably best to re-apply them every year.

Answer:	Yes it is too much & I don't know what to do with the rest of it. Does it clean glass/mirrors wood tile or what? It's 16 fl. oz.(473 ml) And you just need as much as you would use Windex to clean glass/mirrors. The instructions on the Film explains everything you need and it doesn't say anything about having to buy this product. I love the Film though. It's very pretty but can get bubbles after some time so it needs to be adjusted with or without the film tool kit.

Answer:	The kit is nice, but for extra solution or saving money, you can easily make your own. I successfully use *distilled or R/O* water (not tap - that has mineral in it that can leave deposits/film behind and be trapped) and i've used as little as 2 drops of soap and I like to add a dash or 2 of rubbing alcohol into it as well but maybe not necessary. This makes the slippery surface needed to slide the material around for positioning.

Answer:	Yes, it has a strong odor to it. I am sensitive to fragrances and chemicals but this is stronger smelling than any tape I've ever used before. This tape will permeate the entire room. I've only used it in one room for about 3 days and its still strong. I will probably be removing it.
Question:	Would it work to cover the aluminum on the inside of the window to avoid condensation
Answer:	To me it seemed to just be really thick packaging tape. I don't know how well it would work on aluminum though. I have used it on a broken corner of the window pane. With the cold weather when I bake the interior windows get condensation. This condensation also accumulates on The repaired area of glass. Hope this info helps.
Question:	Is this tape heavier than packing tape? One reviewer said packing tape would have worked just as well
Answer:	The 3M Interior Transparent Weather Sealing Tape is indeed heavier than clear packing tape but also more of a flexible, "vinyl" kind of material. Packing tape will not conform to the transitions between glass and frame as well and I believe if left exposed to constant temperature changes, humidity and direct sunlight it would dry and become brittle, much the same as it does on cardboard boxes after lengthy periods. The 3M tape I applied to a bedroom window in April 2012 is still doing the job of sealing air leaks as well today, as when first applied. I just don't think clear packing tape would have lasted this long. As another posted replied, this tape is also nearly invisible once applied.

Answer:	The strip comes with a strip of tape on one side that you stick to the door. Just be sure to get wide enough tape to cover whatever gap you have. This works so well we have been very happy with it. Our door had uneven gaps as well.

Answer:	Thank you for asking. The tape is double sided for use to mount the 3M Window Insulation Film.

Answer:	The tape is sticky on both sides. You look at the window frame and decide where on the frame to place it. The idea being the 'window film' you purchased will adhere to the tape to keep any breezes out of the house. I usually choose the area where the frame edge is farther from the window. Place the tape and then stretch the film. Really easy after the first attempt!
Question:	Is it ok to apply tape on paint for windows without borders
Answer:	I have been applying it to varnished surface for about 7 years. It has on several occasions removed it but in small areas. I do recommend his product. The pros out weigh the cons. It will make a difference in the R factor of the windows.

Answer:	Provided the window surface is sound, it is very easy to remove. This is also the safest tape to use of any of the brands. I've tried several. I've even had this tape up on some windows for over two years and it still comes off easily. This is true for vinyl and stained wood trim. One note. It is strong tape and if you put in onto a painted surface (for example painted window trim) if the surfaces wasn't prepped correctly before first being painted, it may take the paint off. This is an issue with how the window was painted and not with the tape. Even if the paint wasn't done correctly you can still use this tape. When you remove the tape at the end of the season, heat it up with a hair dryer which loosens the bond. Then pull the tape off by pulling it at a shallow angle in the direction of the currently stuck down tape. This reduces the likelihood of the tape pulling up the paint. Since you don't know if the window was painted correctly, I'm always very careful taking this tape off on painted windows.

Answer:	Film is 1 piece. The dimensions on the box (5.16 ft x 7 ft) Match the size of the film. The box shown would cover two windows that are 3’ x 5’. Make sure when you cut the film that you leave a couple of inches of extra film on each side of the window. This makes it easier to pull it tight. You may not even have to heat it with a heat gun or air blower. Try putting the tape on the wood frame edge that is next to the wall.
Question:	the product is for 62" x84" but the picture shows 3'X5'. Which is it
Answer:	You should be able to get to 3 x 5 windows out of the piece of film that is in the box. Try to put the tape on the edge of the trim that is against the wall. Leave a couple inches of film extra all the way around the window which allows you to pull the film tight and that’s possibly eliminating having to shrink it.
Question:	Will this work on a double-paned-glass metal balcony door? Would I just cover the glass portion or also extend as close to the frame as possible
Answer:	You would need to measure that door , outside edge of the frame that surrounds it , as that is what the sticky strip sticks too.
