12 best rated rv trailer tires
Rated RV trailer tires are an essential component for the safe and efficient operation of recreational vehicles (RVs) and trailers. These tires are specifically designed to meet the unique needs and challenges posed by towing heavy loads over long distances. Here are some key aspects to consider when it comes to rated RV trailer tires:
Load Range and Capacity:
- RV trailer tires come with different load ranges, indicating the maximum weight they can safely carry. It's crucial to choose tires with a load rating that matches or exceeds the weight of your trailer when fully loaded.
Tire Size and Type:
- RV trailer tires are available in various sizes and types. The size should be appropriate for your trailer, and it's important to use the same size and type of tire on all wheels for even weight distribution and handling.
Ply Rating:
- The ply rating of a tire refers to the number of layers of material in the tire's construction. Higher ply ratings generally indicate a sturdier tire, which is beneficial for towing heavy loads.
Speed Rating:
- The speed rating specifies the maximum speed at which the tire can safely operate. It's important to choose tires with a speed rating that matches or exceeds the intended travel speeds of your RV.
Tread Design:
- The tread design plays a crucial role in traction and handling. Tires with an appropriate tread pattern for your intended use (e.g., highway driving, off-road) can enhance safety and performance.
Inflation Pressure:
- Maintaining the correct inflation pressure is essential for RV trailer tires. Underinflated or overinflated tires can lead to uneven wear, reduced fuel efficiency, and increased risk of blowouts.
Weather Conditions:
- Consider the weather conditions you'll be traveling in. Some RV trailer tires are designed for specific climates or weather conditions, such as all-season or summer tires.
Brand Reputation:
- Choose reputable tire brands known for their quality and durability.Reading customer reviews and seeking recommendations can help you make an informed decision.
Regular Maintenance:
- Regularly inspect and maintain your RV trailer tires. This includes checking the tread depth, looking for signs of damage or wear, and ensuring proper inflation.
Installation and Rotation:
- Proper installation and regular rotation of tires can contribute to even wear and extended tire life.
By paying attention to these factors, you can select rated RV trailer tires that match your specific towing needs and contribute to a safer and more enjoyable travel experience. Always refer to the manufacturer's recommendations and specifications for your particular RV and trailer.

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these tires made in USA |
Answer: | The ones I just received are made in China but they are the tire brand that U-Haul uses which was my reason for buying them (how often do you see U-Haul trucks on the side of the road). Also the main thing is to keep the weight on the tires to 75-80% of their capacity. I did this with my last set and they lasted 8 years and I changed them due to age. |
Question: | how does this carlisle HD tire compare to a power king st tire |
Answer: | In my estimation the Carlisle is a superior tire. The Carlisle tire has an 80 mph speed rating which is the next rating up from the power king, and even though the Carlisle has 9/32 tread versus the 11/32 of the power king, I’ve found that the Carlisle rubber is more durable and lasts longer. Also, the price is better, so all in all, CARLISLE is the right choice. |
Question: | Are these tires made in USA |
Answer: | Some are made in China, some in US, Only way to tell is they are stamped on the tire. So ask the seller. |
Question: | Is it ok to mix the D15 tires with the R15 tires |
Answer: | You should never mix a bias tire or “D” rated tire with a radial or “R” style tire ON THE SAME AXLE. The reason for this is that they will likely be different load ratings and speed ratings and due to the different constructions of the tires, one being polyester and one being steel belted radial——- one tire will do more work than the other and bear more weight possibly causing overload situation and a premature wear pattern or blow out. I hope this helps |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do these ship from china or usa |
Answer: | Not real sure of your question but if you're looking at 8ply tires that is a load range D. If you're carrying heavy loads you want a 10ply load range E. For the price difference I would always go with the heavier tire on a trailer. |
Question: | What ply is on these tires |
Answer: | Take a look at the date of the review. The ones I got were brand new and looked very good. They have a very thick side wall because some people run into things with their trailer like curbs and other things. I did not look at the code on the tire to see when they were made but you can look at the ones you get and send them back if they are old. Tires are marked with a date code when made. |
Question: | All info I know about my stock tires are f78-15st, will the 205/75r15 fit my toyhauler |
Answer: | Yes, they are Load E tires, some other seller sell different tire under our listing, make sure buy tires from Libra trailer parts, wondering why Amazon allow this happen. |
Question: | Can I go from 14" to 15" tires and rims |
Answer: | Pictures are to show tread patern only, they are listed correctly , thanks |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the date currently on the tires being sold |
Answer: | The country of origin for part # 135 is China. Thanks! |
Question: | what is max speed rating |
Answer: | You should see the tire pressure as soon as the chuck is connected to the tire fill valve. If not one of two things is probably happening, the gauge is not working (check battery) or your chuck is not connecting to the valve stem. Make sure you do not have a chuck that is threaded - my first one was and would not fit the valve stem. I would check the connection first and then the gauge. Hope this is helpful. |
Question: | Will this come in set of 4 for less |
Answer: | You have to peel back the black rubber around the gauge. on the back of unit there should be a clear plastic tab. Pull that out and the batteries will work if they are good. |
Question: | Are theses tires made in America |
Answer: | Not that I am aware of. There was no information on how to calibrate, or if it is possible. I would suggest contacting the manufacturer. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the tread suppose to be higher in the middle of the tire? The tire I have the middle tread is higher |
Answer: | As of 12/13 our current date codes are 32nd week of 2016. G614's are LT rated tires |
Question: | I need all info of the 225/90 r16 lh tire |
Answer: | These were created as a commercial truck tire for HD applications like smaller tow trucks hence the LT designation in front of the size. However, when trucks stopped running 16" wheels, GY transitioned their marketing to trailer use. They are fantastic tires. I've run them on my past two heavy 5th wheel toy haulers (21k GVWR) and with over 50k miles of use, never a failure. To get max capacity you need to run them at 110psi and use metal valve stems. |
Question: | Can i pick them up now |
Answer: | yes these are tubeless install fill with air and ready to go |
Question: | Can I use these on a popup trailer that calls for ST185/80D13? Previously had Duro's with different treads |
Answer: | Yes, it says right on them. |
Product features
Why Choose the Carlisle Sport Trail LH
The Carlisle Sport Trail LH is a long-time value leader in the trailer tire industry.
Durable
Its bias ply construction is optimal where rugged performance and sidewall puncture resistance is required. It also features an innovative tread and contour, designed to reduce rolling resistance and allow for consistent, extended wear.
Versatile
It’s perfect for construction, utility, agriculture, light marine, cargo and sport trailers.
When To Replace Trailer Tires
There is no one-size-fits-all recommendation for when tires should be replaced. That’s because usage, climate, and storage all play a role. If any cracks or interior tire components are visible, Carlisle highly recommends the tires be inspected by a professional. Carlisle also recommends maintaining a tread depth of 4/32” or greater. As a general guide, tires should be replaced after five years of service, regardless of tire appearance and all tires should be replaced at once for even wear.
Decoding a Tire Sidewall
A lot of information can be found by looking at the information imprinted on the sidewall of your trailer tire. This includes important details such as tire size and construction, wheel compatibility, load range, load capacity, PSI rating and when the tire was made. All of these details are important when selecting a replacement tire for your trailer.
What Makes Specialty Trailer (ST) Tires Different
If you are hauling anything, it’s important to use the right tire for the job, for the safety of yourself and your cargo. Specialty trailer tires (ST) are designed for greater hauling capacity, better puncture resistance, reduced heat build-up and minimized trailer sway. These are all important factors in avoiding dangerous blowouts that are more likely when using passenger (P) or light truck (LT) tires on a trailer.
The Difference Between Bias and Radial Tires
Bias tires are constructed using crisscrossing nylon plies, creating a very rigid, durable sidewall that resists punctures. Bias tires are typically used for construction, agriculture, cargo, light marine and sport trailers. Radial tires have perpendicular polyester plies and crisscrossing steel belts. This creates a smoother ride and longer wear for applications like travel trailers, livestock and toy hauling.
