Therefore they almost always have a Schrader type inflation tip. So out of the box, no this will not work at a gas station. By adding a bit extra to this, you can use it at gas stations. All you would need to do, is instead of threading in the supplied 1/4" QD male, put in what is called a tank valve. It will have the threading to attach to the inlet port of this tool, and have a Shrader valve (just like tires have) on it's other end. It's tires that have not been running on the road that day and when checked tin the shade (because the sun will add psi) at 70 degrees air temp. For every 10 degrees higher or lower than 70 add or subtract 1 psi. So if my car calls for 32 psi and I'm checking at 50 degrees outside air temp then I'd put them at 30 psi. After running a car on the highway (especially in the summertime) they will read quite a bit higher than cool down the longer the car sits. |

| Answer: | The valve stem may be too short for the chuck to fully engage. I've had that happen before and switched a different device. You may already be doing this but, be sure the chuck is fully unlocked, then press down hard and lock while maintaining pressure to get more of the stem in the chuck. If it's already at the bottom of the stem, you'll need to have a mechanic install longer stems. Yeah, I know, pain in the neck. But, the compressor is great. Our daughter loves it. |
