Swivel trailer jacks are essential components in the world of trailers and recreational vehicles (RVs). They serve a crucial role in stabilizing and leveling trailers and campers, making them an essential part of the outdoor and automotive equipment. Here's what you need to know about swivel trailer jacks:
Stabilization and Leveling: Swivel trailer jacks are primarily used to stabilize and level trailers, RVs, and other towed vehicles. They help ensure that the trailer remains stable and even, providing a safe and comfortable environment for occupants.
Types of Swivel Trailer Jacks:
- Swivel Jacks: Swivel jacks feature a swiveling mechanism that allows the trailer tongue or front end to be raised or lowered, adjusting the height and angle as needed.
- A-Frame Jacks: A-Frame jacks are a common type of swivel jack designed for trailers with an A-frame hitch. They typically mount directly to the A-frame and provide stable support.
- Top-Wind vs. Side-Wind: Swivel jacks can have either a top-wind or side-wind crank handle for raising and lowering the trailer. Top-wind jacks have a handle that rotates from the top, while side-wind jacks have a handle on the side.
Materials and Durability: Swivel trailer jacks are typically constructed from durable materials such as steel or heavy-duty aluminum. This ensures their ability to withstand the weight of the trailer and resist environmental elements.
Weight Capacity: Swivel jacks come in various weight capacities to accommodate different trailer sizes and weights. It's important to choose a jack with a capacity that matches or exceeds the weight of your trailer.
Ease of Use: Many swivel trailer jacks feature user-friendly mechanisms for easy operation. This includes smooth cranking handles and a swivel feature that makes adjusting the trailer's height and angle straightforward.
Mounting and Installation: Swivel jacks can be bolted or welded onto the trailer frame or tongue, depending on the design. Proper installation is crucial for stability and safety.
Additional Features: Some swivel trailer jacks come with extra features such as caster wheels for easy maneuverability, footplates for better stability on soft surfaces, and corrosion-resistant coatings to prolong their lifespan.
Availability: Swivel trailer jacks are widely available through RV and automotive parts stores, as well as online retailers. It's important to choose a jack that is compatible with your specific trailer type and size.
In summary, swivel trailer jacks are essential components for trailers and RVs, providing stability and leveling capabilities. User questions & answers
Question: | If this doesn't fit, can I return it |
Answer: | Fit what? I mounts on 3 to 5 inch frames. To fit the 5 inch it is turned 90 degrees for mounting. |
Question: | How good is the warranty? Mine just had the handle fall out on the way to the lake. Not acceptable |
Answer: | had this happen to 3 of these jacks. The handle falls out and you are screwed........ |
Question: | what is the advantage or disadvantage of a trailer jack with dual (2) wheels |
Answer: | It’s been an advantage for us. With a 24ft trailer, 19ft boat, 2900lbs. It’s been far easier handling the trailer to push into a tight garage opening. The single wheel originally on trailer would drag and was hard to pivot. Using a mallet to pivot the old single wheel was a pain, drag marks on drive. |
Question: | How easily will this turn? What I mean is, with the wheel in straight alignment with the trailer tongue, how difficult to move the tongue sideways |
Answer: | harder to turn with both wheels, a single wheel jack works better for turning. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Where are these made |
Answer: | Medium. |
Question: | Will this fit an exmark radius e series mower. the mower comes with a pipe already welded on it. thank you |
Answer: | The cover is made of 100% Non-woven Polypropylene. It is designed to fit Hatchbacks up to 15 ft 2 inches or 183" x 59" x 51". The best way to make sure of the fit is to actually measure your vehicle. |
Question: | What is the diameter of the pipe swivel mount |
Answer: | Before purchasing any cover, I would recommend measuring your vehicle, add a few inches then compare to the specs in the ad/listing. I purchased this for a 1943 Jeep. |
Question: | What size pipe does the jack slip over |
Answer: | Don't know how big an Accent is but it fits our Prius with room to spare had to cut a hole out for the antennae though. |
Question: | What is the diameter of the pipe attachment. Trying to replace existing welded jack |
Answer: | It fits a Prius with a room to spare. It is elastized all around for a good fit. If your car has an antennae on the roof you will have to cut a whole in the top which is what I did for my Prius. |
Question: | Does this come with the plate to weld on? Are any extras parts needed other than what comes with this |
Answer: | It easily bolts on to the tongue with the supplied attachment. Keep in mind that there has to be enough length of unobstructed tongue, (approximately a foot or so , for the unit to be able swivel into the horizonal locked position for when the trailer is being transported. Normally this shouldn't be a problem but just in case check first before placing your order. |
Question: | are they weld on or just bolt on? thankx |
Answer: | If it's of any help when I ordered mine five years or so back it arrived within week. |
Question: | Please verify the jack can be seperated from the weld-on bracket, to replace a broken jack that is same design |
Answer: | There's an element of the subjective here but here goes: As measured from the bottom side of my trailer tongue, the distance to the bottom of the ground plate is approximately 11 inches at its lowest cranked down point. I hope this helps. (Also, just to add I've had this unit for four or so years and it's tremendous. It's always outside, the elements don't matter, it's smooth and it even looks good!) |

User questions & answers
Question: | I'd like to mount 4 of these on a 16' flat bed trailer in order to level it. I'd put one on each corner of the trailer. Would this jack work well for |
Answer: | This particular cover would COVER a '93 Mustang. The '93 is the same size as my '88 Mustang, and the cover goes on easily. It is a little large, so it arguably doesn't FIT the car's form. But it goes on easily, has a lightweight cable that locks across the underside, and provides protection for the vehicle. This is probably not the BEST cover, as one very much like it (identical except for logo on this one) was acquiring holes from the extreme sun and heat in Texas. But it's a decent $50 cover. |
Question: | When completely retracted, what is the distance from the swivel to the foot base |
Answer: | Yes, since your sedan is less than 200’, you should be have more room. |
Question: | I already have the male part welded on my trailer from a different jack.. Wondering if this jack will fit |
Answer: | It should, I think a Lexus Rh450 is bigger, and it fits my car fine. |
Question: | Does include Curt 28930 Jack Mounting Pipe |
Answer: | I dont think you'd want to wash it in a machine. But it looks like it could survive a wash in a commercial sized machine. Definitely DO NOT put in a heated dryer though. |

Having the right trailer tongue jack on your trailer can make all the difference. CURT offers the diversity of options and weight capacities to suit any towing setup.
Boat trailer jack
CURT boat trailer jacks are built to thrive under water exposure, equipping your boat trailer with a dependable support for miles to come. These trailer jacks also feature a jack wheel to give the boat trailer enhanced mobility when coupling to your vehicle or launching your boat at the boat landing.
A-frame trailer jack
A-frame trailer jacks are uniquely designed for an A-frame trailer. They feature a triangular bracket to be bolted onto the trailer tongue or welded into place. While A-frame trailer jacks do not swivel up and out of the way for travel, each is equipped with excellent vertical adjustment for easy coupling and safe towing.
Swivel trailer jack
The CURT swivel trailer jack features an integrated swivel bracket that allows the entire jack leg to tilt up and out of the way after hitching your trailer to your vehicle. CURT offers bracket-mount swivel trailer jacks and tube-mount or pipe-mount swivel trailer jacks to accommodate a variety of trailers.
Heavy-duty trailer jack
For large trailers, heavy loads and commercial jobs, a CURT heavy-duty trailer jack supplies superior lift and support capacity. We offer heavy-duty trailer jacks with support weight ratings up to 12,000 pounds. Each CURT heavy-duty trailer jack is also covered in a durable powder coat finish for maximum corrosion resistance on tough jobs.
Enhanced mobility
Each CURT marine boat trailer jack is equipped with a trailer jack wheel at the base, giving your trailer enhanced maneuverability without requiring you to fully lift up the trailer tongue. This makes parking easier, coupling easier and launching and positioning your boat easier.
Water-resistant
These trailer boat jacks are constructed from high-strength steel for dependable strength and are shielded in a durable zinc plating. This tough finish is optimal for water exposure, frequent at the boat landing, ensuring long-lasting corrosion resistance of the trailer jack support leg and internal components.
Safe towing
For increased safety while towing and ease of use, all CURT boat trailer jacks mount with a swivel bracket. This allows the boat jack to swivel up and out of the way for travel, providing plenty of ground clearance for your trailer tongue. The swivel design also makes setup quicker and easier with less raising of the trailer jack leg required.
