| Answer: | I just replaced the rear vent on my 1986 Sovereign with this. You WILL need to modify the roof. The stock Airstream vents have curved corners, this is hard angles, and slightly larger. I spent close to four hours on my roof and in the bedroom cutting from either side (and I also had to modify the vent's cowling, as the Airstream roof is only about two inches thick), but I'm still very pleased with the result. |

| Answer: | I'm not completely sure what you're asking. Are you referring to the fact that, when run in thermostat mode, the dome is always open, and the fan is sped up, slowed down, or stopped? If so, I believe this is a conscious design decision. The fan itself is very quiet, but there's noticeable (albeit brief) noise generated when the dome lift motor is running. It would be annoying to have the fan cover constantly opening and closing itself (and create significant wear on the lift mechanism). Keep in mind that even when the temperature sensor in the fan measures the passing air at the thermostat set point and turns off the fan, oftentimes the objects inside the coach/camper are still at a higher temperature. As the cabinetry and appliances give off that heat, the interior temperature increases, and the fan must turn on again. In the current implementation, this is quiet and unobtrusive. Regarding the rain sensor, unlike one reviewer mentioned, my fan, when in rain sensor mode, will restart after moisture evaporates from the sensor strip. It does not stay closed indefinitely. |
