Answer: With in reason. You will need the spec sheet, say you have a bad unit, it may identify it as two diodes and you know it is not two diodes, it is a 222. So YES it will / it has done it correctly for me on good devices, on devices that fail, it may show unknown device or something like a mess of diodes or something else. Nothing the spec sheet would show. hope this helps. I also use a Heathkit transistor tester so I can supply a load. If you are working with hard to replace /find items, I suggest you also get something that will supply a real load so you can see if it breaks down after 2 minutes or something like that. hope this helps, I am pleased with cost vs use I have gotten. SO far so good. Get used to getting the pins in 1 2 3 any way, but 1,2,3. George

Answer: I found out that the tester can’t measure inductance below 10uH. It helps to buy a pack of inductors of various values to always check the tester. This is how I found out that mine cant’ measure inductors below 10uH.

Answer: I haven't found a germanium transistor to test yet, but I have tested Ge small-signal diodes with mine, so I'm fairly certain this tester can properly identify and test Ge teansistors as well. If so, it will show the device type (PNP/NPN), ID the leads (BCE), and show the hfe (gain), but it will not show a leakage current value. The primary diference between Ge and Si devices is the difference in the voltage drop across a forward-biased junction. Ge junctions show a 0.3 - 0.4v drop, and Si junctions show 0.6 - 0.7v.
Question: Can it be powered with a cable
Answer: I did a simple mod in order to power it from a basic 9vdc power supply l. I simply installed a standard 12mm polarised jack into the case (theres a slot in the top center of the pcb to allow room) and use a currwnt limited wall wart or bench top piwer supply for the required 9 volts (solder the 2 wires from the jack to the battery terminal connections on the pcb matching polarity). Mine has worked a charm and no worries plus you have the option of using either power source. If you would like to know more on this mod reply and I will supply you with a more detailed step by step with photos.

Answer: im sitting looking right at one 6months installed ... it regularly measures 155 amps of 12volt charge and up to 199amps discharge .... those are my system limits witb a 5000w inverter several golf cart batteries and two 100amp chargers
Question: How long i as the cable for sensor and what is max wire size that will fit in sensor
Answer: The sensor cable is about 8 inches long but i cut my cable and extended it to about 10 ft. I testes it up to 15ft and it worked fine. You could possibly go longer. Just use a good quality multi wire cable, or make your own. About 18AWG probably OK. I recall the hole as 20mm, roughly 3/4 inch diameter. No problem for RV battery cable. Remember you can run more than one wire through the hole, That way you can still use battery terminal as the tie point for the various wires that may already be connected there. The sensor will read the Sum of currents, that is for example, if you have charging from a solar system at say 5A, and a discharge load to lighting at say 3A, your meter will show 2A charging. Answer: I received 25x black clips, 25x red clips without wires; They were made of stamped copper except for the spring and rivet which is fine. They are made so that you can solder your wire to them easily and clamp the insulation with the retainers. I like to use silicone wire and a bit of heat shrink under the insulation clamps for durability as silicone insulation is really soft but work well in low temperatures. Excellent value for the money !

Answer: They will fit 16awg but you can fit 14awg or even 12awg if you solder the wire on
