| Answer: | Hillbilly is not entirely correct. I have a 2008 Lexus IS250 and the airflow is down, not up. An he is wrong about leaves being on top of the filter due to gravity. If there are leaves on the downstream side of the filter that means 2 things. 1. Your current filter isn't filtering and 2. When the fan comes on, you will have leaves blowing out of your vents. Unless your kids are stuffing leaves in your vents, there's no way there will be leaves on the downstream side of the filter. Keep it simple, the dirty side is the side the air went in and the clean side is the side the air came out. That's what filters do. |

Amazon.com has frequent incorrect assignments of products fitment. http://www.fram.com/products/consumer-products/air-filters/ Personally I only use Fram for air filters and PVC valves, the aftermarket reviews are not so good for oil filters and such. Check out Bobtheoilguy.com or similar where they cut oil filters apart and compare the results, I usually run Mobil One oil filters and their oil. For other supplies it depends, such as I run Gates belts and pulleys, Autolite Iridium plugs, etc. Short story I check out quality controls and forums to see what appears to be the best products. There are also several lines of products within a brand, Raybestos, for example has several product lines of differing qualities. Something like this, Value line: I am selling this car next week and I want the cheapest parts that will work OK. Service line middle of the road for quality and price, Ok for the regular drivers. Professional line, the best and most expensive. Heavy duty for those that want or need a better product. There are other companies that make specialty components, which are beyond Heavy Duty, I would say they are for towing, off road and other extreme conditions. Price can be sky high, may require modifications to fit. You really should have a reason for this level of performance and be aware of the trade offs. Choose Wisely! |
