3 best electric cooling fans
Electric cooling fans are components commonly used in automotive systems to help regulate the temperature of the engine. Here are some key points related to electric cooling fans:
Function: The primary function of an electric cooling fan is to assist in cooling the engine by dissipating heat. This is particularly important when the vehicle is stationary or moving at low speeds, where natural airflow through the radiator may be insufficient.
Mounting: Electric cooling fans are typically mounted near the radiator and are controlled by a temperature sensor. When the engine temperature rises above a certain threshold, the fan is activated to draw air through the radiator, facilitating the cooling process.
Types: There are two main types of electric cooling fans—pusher fans and puller fans. Pusher fans are mounted in front of the radiator and push air through it, while puller fans are mounted behind the radiator and pull air through from the engine side.
Electric Motor: These fans are powered by electric motors. The motor is activated when the temperature sensor signals that additional cooling is needed. The electric motor drives the fan blades to create airflow.
Temperature Sensors: Temperature sensors are integral to the operation of electric cooling fans. They monitor the engine temperature, and when it exceeds a certain level, they send a signal to the fan to start operating.
Thermostatic Controls: Some electric cooling fans come with thermostatic controls that allow for more precise temperature regulation. These controls adjust the fan speed based on the engine temperature.
Aftermarket Options: While many vehicles come equipped with factory-installed electric cooling fans, there are also aftermarket options available. Upgrading to a more powerful or efficient electric cooling fan is a common modification for performance or off-road vehicles.
Replacement Parts: If a cooling fan fails, it may need to be replaced to prevent engine overheating. Replacement parts for electric cooling fans, including motors, blades, and sensors, are available.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance of electric cooling fans involves checking for any damage, ensuring proper operation of the temperature sensor, and cleaning accumulated debris from the fan blades.
Importance: Electric cooling fans play a crucial role in preventing engines from overheating, which can lead to severe damage. Proper cooling is essential for the overall performance and longevity of a vehicle.
When dealing with electric cooling fans, it's important to follow manufacturer guidelines, conduct regular inspections, and address any issues promptly to ensure the proper functioning of the vehicle's cooling system.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will it work for a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass with a 350 rocket motor |
Answer: | These are bad to the bone fans and they are 4-3/16 thick/ high. I hope this helps |
Question: | What side of radiator do the springs go on for a "pull air" mount |
Answer: | 10-13 amps. I just purchased it. Been working great. |
Question: | In the description it says can be reversed to make it an air pusher. anybody know how |
Answer: | Specs say it is rated for 120 watt |
Question: | Which color wire goes to the temp switch |
Answer: | its universal, if you have room for it under your hood, its simple to wire up. My only warning, is the fasteners suck they WILL break, but I think those kind always suck, I used 2 zip ties and two rubber and metal washers per connection point, its much stronger. and if you go to harbor freight, super cheap and easy to do. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I bought this but it came with no paperwork, no specs, nothing to indicate what amperage of fuse I should use. What amp do you recommend |
Answer: | I am using a 10 amp fuse for the 12" 80 watt fan and it works. It says 6.6 amps so you might be able to get away with a 7.5 amp fuse, but 10s are easier to find and I didn't want to fuse too close to the operating level. |
Question: | Is the overall size (housing) actually 10 " or is that blade diameter.I am tight in mounting space |
Answer: | Just got the 10". With the mounting clips top and bottom it's 13"H x 11 1/2"W, giving about 1/16" clearance,, about the tightest you would want to go. 10 3/4"H TIGHT x 11 3/8" TIGHT w/o mounting clips. |
Question: | I'm looking for a fan for a diy bucket evap cooler. can you recommend a method for controlling fan speed of 7" upgr8 12v |
Answer: | I purchased a adjustable fan control switch from autozone. It was under $20. |
Question: | What kind of setup would I need to make this work from a 120 Volt home outlet |
Answer: | Ignore those previous answers.......this will power it perfectly fine from a 120 outlet using this........B0111A92BK.......just copy and paste into amazon search. I use this power adapter to power a 12" 96w version fan in my boat from my generator and it works flawless. |

UPGR8 Universal High Performance Slim Electric Cooling Radiator Fan
The UPGR8 electric slim fan is lightweight, has an ultra slim design so the fan can be installed flush against your radiator, or other applications. It comes with the universal fan mounting kit which make it easy to install. The fan can be used in a wide variety of other applications as well, including A/C condenser cooling, mounting on an intercooler to prevent heat soak during drag racing events, or cooling the radiator in a water-to-air intercooler setup. We have size 7", 9", 10", 12", 14", 16", and different colors to choose from.
Comes with fan mounting kit
Dual electric fan mounting tie-strap kit.
Fits all American Volt electric fans as well as other brands.
Heat resistant design for long lasting durability.
Puller and Pusher Design
Puller fans mount on the engine side (back) of the radiator core and pull air through the radiator core. The fresh airflow is pulled through the grille, then pulled through the core, and exits out the back side of the radiator. Puller fans are the desired and most common way of mounting a fan when space is not a limitation between the front of the engine and the back of the radiator core.
Pusher fans mount on the grille side (front) of the radiator core and push air through the radiator core. Fresh airflow enters through the grille, then is pushed through the radiator core, and exits out the back side of the radiator. Pusher fans are used typically where there is a limited amount of space for a properly sized puller fan.
Signature S Blade Design
UPGR8 signature Curved S Blade design, not only improves performance, but also offers more aggressive look and feel for your application.
