Answer:	I can't imagine that it would NOT be resistant to any automotive coolant. It might not hurt to rinse it off with plain water, if you expose it to one of the typical coolants. Doesn't that stuff get a little gummy when it dries?

SE 784EC Digital Caliper

No need to strain the eye by trying to read little lines from a traditional dial caliper. The SE Digital Caliper is a battery operated caliper with a large LCD display. Constructed out of hardened stainless steel—the body, jaws, and blades will hold up against constant use. Make sure to avoid aggressive impact of the jaws against hard surfaces. Color-coded rubber buttons add visual and tactile feedback. This caliper is compliant with international standards and can display either SAE (decimal) or Metric (mm) units by pressing the conversion button.

Guess no more and be accurate the first time with smooth and precise measuring. This caliper provides four ways to measure: 1) Outer, 2) Inner, 3) Depth, and 4) Step. Adjust the speed of the glide by increasing or decreasing the tension of the clamp screw. This adjustment will affect the resistance of the precision thumb roller. Maximize the resistance (clockwise) to immobilize the roller.

Powering on the caliper is accomplished in two ways:

- Pressing the power on/off button.

- Sliding the jaw.

Powering off the caliper is accomplished in two ways:

- Pressing the power on/off button.

- Being idle for 6.5 minutes.

Upon powering on, the caliper will remember the last position's measurement. Pressing the zero (tare) button while the caliper is on will reset the origin point to zero.

This caliper operates on one LR44 button cell battery. Two batteries are included. One battery is already installed in the unit. The extra battery is sealed and can be found in the foam mold of the hard plastic case.

Answer:	the outer jaw should pull out not all the way but enough to fit the item you want to measure. you should also be able to push the button on the slide and that should move the slide. if it does not move with just a bit of resistance the something may be damaged and not allowing proper movement.
