Answer:	I’m not aware that there is a specific torque value for these nuts. If you are using lock nuts then you will want to tighten the them as good as you can and there’s no worry of them coming loose.

Answer:	This mounts on a standard 4-bolt flange. 2-7/8" center-center either way. 7/16" bolt hole.

Answer:	these will only work on a trailer axle that has the mounting plate welded in anticipation for accepting the backing plate for the brakes.
Question:	Do these come with everything you need to install on a trailer that’s never had breaks
Answer:	check to make sure your axles have the square plate selded to them already, to mount the brakes (most do). In addition, you will need enough two conductior wire to run from the brakes to the truck plug. Also, if you do not have a 6 or 7 way plug on your trailer, you will need a new plug. The 4 wire plug does not have enough wires. Also be aware, the bol tpattern on "this" kit is not a standard trailer wheel bolt pattern. this is the "large Chevy" bolt pattern. The studs on the measure about 4-3/4" stud center to center, skipping one. The "Common" trailer bolt circle is 5 x 4.5" (4-1/4" Stud center to center) but if you have some wheels off a Chevy pick up truck or large GM Car (buick, Caddie) these shuld fit (but measure first, most Chevy bolt circles are 5x4.75" or about 4-1/2" stud center to center)

Question:	Will this fit AL-KO axles
Answer:	The trailer brakes are NOT self adjusting, unlike most drum brakes on cars and trucks. There is however some "give" with an electric braking system on trailers. The adjustment is pretty simple and need to be done when installed and periodically thereafter. To Adjust: the bottom side of the drum brakes between the brake shoes you should see the "Adjuster" with a spring between the two shoes- This screwed wheel is your adjuster. It will need to be manually adjusted on install- to do that remove the rubber plug on the back side of the Backing plate and using a large flat tip screw driver or brake show adjuster tool and rotate while spinning the Drum until it stops the drum. Then Back the adjuster off just a little until the drum spins easily again. Replace the rubber plug. Do this for all Electric Brake units.
Question:	Will this fit a Tractor Supply Company 3500lb axle
Answer:	My axle was a 12” hub by 2” wide brake pads. The brake housing has a center hole that you need to measure along with how many nuts that it takes to mount. Mine took 5 some take 4. As you look for the new brake assembly you will need to know the details to make sure you get the correct brake assembly. Hope that helps you.

Answer:	There is not a trailer application guide for trailers. If the bearing numbers match and you have a Dexter, AlKo, Hayes, Quality, Rockwall, or Lippert trailer axle then you will be fine.

Answer:	Not all Air Streams built in 1973 are the same. I need you to lay down under the camper, so you can see the back side of the wheels and brakes, and make sure your brakes are about 10-1/2" in diameter, and are bolted to the axle arm with FOUR bolts. If so, this is what you need (assuming you have 6 lug wheels) Paul

Answer:	You will need an 84 spindle (L68149 inner, L44649 outer bearing) that has a standard 4 hole brake flange.

Two types of brake controllers:

CURT electric brake controllers fall into one of two categories: inertia-based or time-based. These refer to the method of activation used by the brake controller. Both types are safe and effective for stopping a trailer. However, depending on your needs, one may be preferred over the other.

Inertia-based

Inertia-based or proportional trailer brake controllers use an electronic mechanism, called an accelerometer, to detect the momentum of the vehicle-trailer combination while braking. The controller accentuates the trailer brakes in proportion to the momentum, allowing for a smooth, highly efficient stop.

Time-based

Time-based activation is less complex than inertia-based. When stopping, a time-based brake controller accentuates the trailer brakes based on whatever gain setting is input by the driver. Heavy-duty towing

If you are towing a heavy trailer or cargo, an inertia-based brake controller will provide superior control to make smoother stops and to put less strain on your vehicle.

Light-duty towing

If you’re towing a simple boat trailer or popup camper, a time-based trailer brake controller may be sufficient. CURT time-based controllers are easily adjustable for varying loads.

Frequent towing

Answer:	We have had many customers mount the vacuum pump in the trunk of their vehicle. A distance such as that has not affected the performance of the pump.

Answer:	If your trailer wheel hubs have 5 lug bolts, measuring is slightly different. Choose any lug bolt and measure the distance between the back of one lug to the center of another that is directly across from it. Be sure that you skip one bolt when measuring. You can measure the distance in either direction.
