Answer:	If you start at zero, and put the tip on some higher object you get a reading, say. 0.2. If the unit shuts off, when you turn it back on it reads 0. If it has not been moved from the original position, when you then move the tip off the measured point, it will indicate how far the rod has moved, which is the reading the dial had before it went off automatically. If you move it off the measured point when it is in the auto off condition, it will read 0 when you restart because it always reads 0 at power up.

Answer:	I've never used it for that. I've been using WD-40 with great success to remove baked on plastic from a stove top in the kitchen. Simply spray WD40 on the problem area, let it sit for a few hours then take a razor blade and scrape off. Answer:	The 05353 is a larger (12oz) tub. Also, the 05359 (8oz) comes with a application brush integrated in the cap. I have not verified if the 05353 has this application brush but its doubtful since the top is very flexible unlike the smaller bottle which has a hard cap. Hope this helps...
