| Answer: | The fasteners provided are useless. I went to Ace and bought #12 x 1/2 long sheet metal screws. I used those instead of the plastic fasteners. You have to use caution and not use too long a screw. I stuck a wooden dowel thru the mounting hole until it touched the underside of the hood to measure the distance from the mounting surface to the underside of the hood. I also ground off the point of the sheet metal screw. I pulled the fasteners holding the rubber gasket out and slid the deflector between the gasket and the hood. I then installed the screws thru the rubber gasket and the deflector into the mounting holes. I also reinstalled the factory fasteners to hold the rubber gasket in place. My truck is a 2018 F150 XLT. I think the 2017 should be similar. I would measure the mounting holes to be sure a #12 screw will work. It’s been around a year since I installed mine. I like the look of it and the protection it provides. Any more questions and I would be glad to help. |
