Question:	My 2nd replacement. How do i keep the end from breaking off
Answer:	I didn't have the problem that you are having. I don't know if the top half is separating from the bottom half or if the bottom half is splitting during assembly. To replace it I placed a open end wrench that that is slightly larger than the shaft and used a small hammer to tap it upwards to remove the bottom half of the knob. I then cleaned the quadrant selector shaft. I positioned the replacement knob on top of the shaft and gently pushed it down until I met resistance. Using a small piece of wood and a small hammer I placed the wood on top of the knob and gently tapped the knob down until it seated. I have been using it ever since. I hope this helps you.
