10 best vht engine paint
VHT Engine Paint is a specialized type of spray paint designed for automotive applications, particularly for painting and protecting various engine components. This type of paint is known for its high-temperature resistance and durability, making it ideal for surfaces that are exposed to extreme heat and other harsh conditions within the engine bay. Here's what you need to know about VHT Engine Paint:
High-Temperature Resistance:
- VHT stands for "Very High Temperature," and these paints are formulated to withstand extreme heat, typically in the range of 500°F (260°C) to 2000°F (1093°C). This resistance is crucial for engine components that generate a lot of heat, such as exhaust manifolds, headers, and engine blocks.
Applications:
- VHT Engine Paint is primarily used to coat and protect engine parts that are exposed to high temperatures, corrosive chemicals, and other harsh conditions.Common applications include exhaust systems, engine blocks, caliper covers, and valve covers.
Variety of Colors:
- VHT offers a variety of colors to choose from, allowing automotive enthusiasts to customize the appearance of their engine bay while also providing protection.
Priming:
- In many cases, it's recommended to use a primer specifically designed for high-temperature applications before applying VHT Engine Paint. This helps improve adhesion and the overall durability of the finish.
Preparation and Application:
- Proper surface preparation, including cleaning and sanding, is essential for achieving a long-lasting finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for best results.
- VHT Engine Paint is typically applied in thin, even coats to achieve the desired finish. Multiple coats may be necessary, with adequate drying time between applications.
Drying and Curing:
- After applying VHT Engine Paint, the painted components should be allowed to dry and cure fully. Curing often involves subjecting the painted parts to heat to help the paint bond and harden properly.
Maintenance:
- Regular maintenance may be required to keep the finish looking its best, especially in the demanding conditions of an engine bay. This can include cleaning and touch-up as needed.
Safety Precautions:
- When using VHT Engine Paint, it's important to follow safety precautions, including proper ventilation and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and a respirator if necessary.
VHT Engine Paint is a popular choice among automotive enthusiasts and mechanics for enhancing the appearance of engine components while providing protection against high temperatures and corrosion. When used correctly, it can help keep the engine bay looking great and extend the life of vital engine parts.

Question: | Has anyone had luck with the VHT clear coat enamel? Does it last and resist chemicals |
Answer: | Hey Josh, Pretty much like any other Clear Coat. It does work. Should re spray a couple of coats. It will last for awhile, depending how it's used!! Hope this helps! {wolfman} |
Question: | can i use this on my brake calipers |
Answer: | Yes. I've used it on my brake calipers and it works great. Depending on how much you drive you may have to touch it up to keep it bright every so often but that's going to happen regardless of what paint you use because brake dust, etc. I use this because its high temperature. |
Question: | Is it OK to use a gray primer and then use a hot pink paint over top of the gray |
Answer: | Primer of any kind will be good for a nice finish for whatever you are painting. I recommend 3 light coats of primer lightly sanded in between. When getting ready to apply you engine paint, beware, this is thick paint. It has heavy particulate matter which is the paint. I recommend that you turn the paint can upside down for 3 to 4 hours. This paint settles heavily. After several hours upside down, shake violently to get it mixed well. After that don't spray too close to your target surface. Do not spray at any temp less than 72 degrees fahrenheit, and spray evenly side to side about 5 to 6 inches, from surface. |

Question: | Do you need a primer |
Answer: | Not sure what the manufacturer will recommend, but my preference is to topcoat over it as soon as their recommended "dry time" is up. Virtually any primer will take on moisture and the longer it is exposed, the great risk of moisture bleeding through to the topcoat. |
Question: | how warm does it have to be to put it on |
Answer: | Unknown... never tried it but its worth a shot if you really need it. |
Question: | how much surface does 1 can of this duplicolor bedliner spray cover |
Answer: | Sorry, can't answer that. But I'm wondering WHO is stating it works great on Aluminum? I'm purchasing a ceramic finish engine paint. Yes, I clean such things to the best of my ability. I don't spare expense. Using brake clean/carb cleaner/Slacker thinner. In this case dirty aluminum valve covers. Thinking start with slacker thinner. So, with that in mind. If I can't find a good high temp. 500 degree primer, I'm thinking just use the ceramic formula on a clean sanded surface. Thanks |

Question: | will this stick to a plastic engine cover |
Answer: | I've used this paint without primer and have had very good success with it on engine parts (generator, starter). Do, of course, thoroughly clean the part's surface before painting. It is a very high quality paint. |
Question: | Hello, i used vht hi temp primer, then followed the directions. i got a very blotchy crinkle coat that did not change no matter how heavy i recoated |
Answer: | No this wouldn't work on a motorcycle exhaust. VHT makes a paint specific for exhaust. |
Question: | How does this wrinkle paint hold up? Is it prone to flaking if you accidently chipped it |
Answer: | My understanding is that it is both heat resistant and fuel/oil resistant.Hardens with each heat cycle. I suggest the VHT primer as well. |
Question: | It appears that the picture is incorrect, as it shows a non-aerosol product. Is this product a can of spray paint |
Answer: | yes |
