13 best high heat spray paint
High-heat spray paint, also known as high-temperature spray paint or heat-resistant spray paint, is a type of paint designed to withstand extreme temperatures. It is commonly used in automotive applications and other areas where surfaces are exposed to high levels of heat. Here's what you need to know about high-heat spray paint related to Primers, Paints Primers, and Automotive:
Heat Resistance: High-heat spray paint is formulated to withstand temperatures significantly higher than regular paints. It can resist heat up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit (649 degrees Celsius) or even more, depending on the specific product.
Applications: This type of paint is primarily used for coating surfaces that get hot during use, such as exhaust pipes, engine components, wood-burning stoves, barbecue grills, and industrial equipment. It is crucial for protecting these surfaces from heat-related damage and corrosion.
Primer Coating: In many cases, it is recommended to use a high-heat primer before applying the heat-resistant paint. The primer helps improve adhesion and enhances the overall performance of the paint.
Colors: High-heat spray paints are available in various colors, including black, silver, white, and specialty colors. These color options allow for customization while maintaining heat resistance.
Spray Application: High-heat spray paints are typically applied using aerosol cans, making it easy for users to achieve an even and uniform coat. Proper surface preparation and application techniques are crucial for the paint to adhere effectively.
Drying and Curing: After application, the paint needs to dry and cure properly. This often involves a curing process that requires exposure to high temperatures to achieve its maximum heat resistance.
Durability: High-heat spray paints are known for their durability and ability to withstand extreme conditions, including high temperatures, moisture, and chemicals.
Maintenance: Over time, high-heat spray paint may require touch-ups or reapplication, especially on surfaces that experience repeated exposure to extreme heat. Regular maintenance helps extend the life of the coating.
Brand and Product Variations: Various brands offer high-heat spray paint products, and they may have different temperature resistance ratings, drying times, and recommended applications. It's important to choose a product that suits your specific needs and follow the manufacturer's instructions for best results.
In summary, high-heat spray paint is a specialized type of paint designed to withstand extreme temperatures, making it ideal for automotive applications, industrial equipment, and other surfaces exposed to high heat. It provides protection against heat-related damage, corrosion, and wear and tear. When applied correctly, high-heat spray paint can help maintain the appearance and functionality of heat-exposed surfaces for an extended period.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use this on a wood burning fireplace firebox |
Answer: | Yes especially if it is an alloy box but if the box is made of wood you might want to seal and prime it with the high temperature primer first and make sure that there are no cracks before you go over it with the rust oleum high temp paint, for best results! |
Question: | Can I use this paint to spray the outside of a wood burning stove |
Answer: | I bought 6 cabs and did my gas grill inside and out. After it cured, I ran it for 30 minutes without food. I have a "holder" to grill fish so I am using that for all cooking so I and not cooking directly on the painted area. If after a month it holds up, I will do test cooking on it directly for the stray cats. |
Question: | Paint scratches off very easily 2 days later, even after curing at 200 and 400 degrees. Prepped with degreaser and 150 grit sandpaper. What could I have done wrong |
Answer: | You did not do anything wrong. This particular paint is not durable at all, but it withstands very very high temps. If you need high heat AND durability, then you need to look into some of the high heat Cerakote and Duracoat products, which are much more involved in applying than this is. I just answered another question on here, and in that answer I mentioned watching YouTube vids of ppl using this paint. In this vids, you'll see they are very delicate w the painted objects after cured when re-installing the object in a car engine compartment, for example. The ONLY thing this paint is good at is withstanding very high heat and being applied relatively easily and cheaply. Ps. I guess I should mention that this product is sometimes sold as an "enamel" but this particular paint is not truly what you'd call an enamel. Enamel implies high durability, and this does not have high durability. |
Question: | What temperatures are required to cure the paint multiple times at various temperatures in an oven? Will the final coating survive any contact with food |
Answer: | 24 hours AFTER painted - place in oven one hour @ 175 degrees. A second curing a few hours later is sometimes helpful.Any contact with food in either direction is bad. (part to food / food to part)Make sure wife is out of town.Cook 2 or 3 pizzas one after another to help disguise smell. |

Question: | can I use it to paint my kitchen stove or what product would you recommend |
Answer: | All of Yimobra bathroom mats come with a 10-Year No Questions Asked Warranty. If you are at all unsatisfied with your product, please contact us (through Amazon if past the standard return window) and we will be happy to assist you. At the end of the day we want our customers to be happy! |
Question: | Could i spray this directly on the grill burners (not the holes of course) and the brackets that hold the burners to the fire box |
Answer: | PVC is quite harmful. Here's an online quote,"Studies of animals show that some of these chemicals are may cause cancer, kidney and reproductive system damage. The disturbing part is that soft PVC is often used in toys for young children – and they just love putting things in their mouths." I would not use this mat for children. |
Question: | Do you think I could spray my oven racks with this? Would it scratch off at the bottom |
Answer: | Thanks for your question. Actually, this bathtub mat non toxic is made of PVC, maybe some customers have some misunderstand of PVC tub mat, but as a professional bath mat expert, Yimobra, who is in this field for many years, we have never, and will never send any harmful products to our dear customers. In addition, we also have rubber bathtub mats, it is pvc free. |
Question: | no lead |
Answer: | The mat suction cups will collect hair over time, so you'll want to flip it over and rinse / clean it off from time to time. I wouldn't expect immediate cleaning to be necessary. Much of this will depend on your own tolerance for cleanliness. I'll keep you informed as to my future experience. Hope this helps. I actually have two of these, neither of these two bath tubs get much traffic, primarily for guests. |

User questions & answers
Question: | For prepping a fire pit do you apply to the outside only or interior, log grate, etc |
Answer: | I applied to the outside and inside but not the mesh cover or the log grate. |
Question: | can this be used on kitchen appliances? (fridge, stove, dishwasher |
Answer: | I'm sure it can be used on stove because by it's an high heat be tolerance spray |
Question: | Would you use this on a new fire pit to help it last or only once a fire pit starts to deteriorate |
Answer: | You could use it either way. before deterioration might be best, in my opinion. I don't know if that paint layer would peel quicker, though.Good luck! |
Question: | Can this be used on the inside lid of my grill which has become very rusted (after sanding of course |
Answer: | I would NEVER put paint n the inside of a grill. I have been grilling and smoking eat for 35 years. For the outside it's OK but never paint the inside. Get a round wire brush for your drill and brush it clean. Coat the inside of your grill with Canola oil. Oil and season it by cranking up the heat with no food. Let it get to a very high temp for at least 45 minutes to an hour for a proper seasoning. Then you will be ready to cook. Cleaning of the hood is not really required of a smoker or grill. Best of luck. Smoke rolling here today. 6 racks of baby backs, 2 pork buttts and 20 chicken quarters. I love it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the finish? Flat, glossy |
Answer: | Okay, according to the listing, this spray paint is supposed to be ''Satin Black''. I read somewhere that ''Cap Indicates Color'' But if you go down to the ''Reviews'' check out the 1st ''Top Review from the United States where it says shows ''Krylon Satin Black.'' Look at the photo's. That's what Satin Black looks like. I needed some Engine De-Greaser, Wd-40 & so on, plus I looked at a can of Krylon's ''Satin Black'' Spray Paint. Now it was way easier to see the difference between since at the Auto Parts Supply Store by me, they had Gloss, Satin & Flat. (Prices were the same.) On Amazon's site, I can't tell the difference. My advice if you're looking to see what Satin looks like, compared to Flat, go down to the ''Reviews''. Check out the review from ''AM7''. This person spray painted the Framing on the Glass Doors''. That's what a Satin Black looks like. The cans are supposed to say, ''Cap Indicates Color'' but it doesn't mention it. ***Note: You can't ship this product back. because it's Flammable. Don't ask me why, I was going to ship mine back in the same box so whatever... So with that said, always try & find a review that has pictures. This Satin Finish will look good for what I plan on doing. I've already prepped the surface, so as long as I don't try to get my project completed with coat, after I apply the 2nd coat, it should look great. ***Note 2: I used some ''800 Grit'' to sand off the rust spots and the rest of the old finish. I did that so you couldn't see that it had those rust spots, plus I wanted a good bond to take hold. In order to do that, you will need, (or should) to use either that ''800 Grit'' ''Wet/Dry Sand Paper'', or some ''0-Steel Wool. I also have 0000 Steel Wool. With the 0000 steel wool (also known as) 4-OT Steel Wool, it will take the original finish down to a smooth surface & your new spray paint will bond to that surface. Just remember to use a damp cloth to wipe off the particles from the sanding, or use like Windex. I plan on doing 2-3 light coats. I know from past experiences, I tend to screw up the paint job whenever I do thick-heavy coats. I also let it dry for at least an hour. 2 to 3 hours if you want each coat to dry & cure properly... I certainly hope that my comment helps out. Prepping the surface, then cleaning it along with light coats is ''KEY''. Dan |
Question: | is this good to paint my heater metal cover, its pealing |
Answer: | Yes , after you remove the pealing paint, spray on. |
Question: | Can I spray on the interior of an old charcoal grill that I'm trying to fix up |
Answer: | I needed to do the same with my old grill. Inside the top the old paint was flakening off. After scraping I sprayed on with the Krylon. The problem was that additional flakening continued to occur and hence more flaks falling on the food. Maybe if you took the grill top off and sanded it completely then all would be okay in using the Krylon. |
Question: | COLOR |
Answer: | It's a flat black. I used it on my fireplace insert and it dried looking like cast iron. Very nice. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it be used on stove grates |
Answer: | I used it on slate which is also not textured and it looks good. What’s nice is you can always add more white and wipe it off. I think it would look nice on flat brick as well. Double check their site and what others have to say though. Best of luck on your project! |
Question: | Will this work for tail pipes |
Answer: | Yes you absolutely can! This product is designed to be used on a porous stone surface and will provide fantastic coverage. |
Question: | Why is the price of paint at almost 30$ a can when the same exact can is less than 8$ at homedepot talk about ripping people off |
Answer: | Even though this is for "brick", I dont see why you couldn't. Make sure the surface is free of debris and oils. Thr stone is naturally pourus and should be able to 'soak' up the paint. I would however not recommend it be placed on floor surfaces as it will likely come back up over time and fade from traffic. But on a fireplace and or hearth it shouldn't be a problem. |
Question: | Will this work on wood? I have a wooden fire pit lid for my in ground fire pit, I want to spray this on my wooden lid |
Answer: | Barely any. I broomed and used a damp sponge to wipe dust away. Then I let it dry before I started to use the product. I LOVED this product. |

Question: | One review says it must be "baked". how long at what temp? thank you |
Answer: | Warm or hot weather temperature during the daylight is fine. Not recommended in the cold / rainy weather day, the moisture in the air will settle on the pure metal & paint contact. Bake is the professional automotive body painters, to get rid of moisture in the metal's pour, better metal & paint contact. Best judgement, or YouTube it. Be safe, have fun. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this paint be used on galvanized steel |
Answer: | First, ask your sister if she usually is 'petite'. I too have this exact problem as I have short legs (28" inseam, rather than a 31" or 30") even though my body is long. So secondly, ask pajama Gram what their inseam measurement is because that varies by company. If she is 30" or less, I would order a petite-large. Better to have a comfortable fit for sleep rather than one that binds. I love my PajamaGrams! |
Question: | Are any of these paints textured |
Answer: | It hits your hips-the picture is very accurate, the top will fall to your wrists when arms are straight. I absolutely love these jammies 👍 |
Question: | Can this be used to paint the brick inside the fireplace where the logs go |
Answer: | For me the length was just right. I am 5 foot tall. |
Question: | Can this paint be used to paint a metal Coleman two burner camp stove |
Answer: | Yes. We used them in the summer, they are very lightweight but still warm at night. I would use them for any season! They're my favorite jammies for my son. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you need to apply primer before using this, and if so which kind |
Answer: | No primer is needed, but the surface should be clean and free of the usual dirt, rust, oil, etc. A sand-blasted surface is ideal, but not really needed. DO keep in mind that brake fluid will destroy this paint just any like other paint, so expect some peeling around the bleeder. I wrap teflon tape around the threaded portion ONLY of the bleeder screws to reduce leaks of both air and fluid here. |
Question: | Anyone have experience using this on aluminum rear dif cover |
Answer: | we used it for brake calipers, my mechanic said something about spraying like plastic and some engine parts, I would say clean the aluminum real well and give it a shot it handles heat and sprays on metal, don't know if calipers are aluminum but might be |
Question: | Can I use this to spray the back of a brake pad |
Answer: | You can use any paint to paint the back of a brake pad...BUT...do not do it. Question answered. C'MON |
