Question: | customers who painted their brake calipers, how is this paint holding up |
Answer: | Up to 48hrs once activated |
Question: | I want to use this to paint my GPU shield would this handle the heat |
Answer: | Difficult to say, but if it was me, I'd get 2 cans to be safe. I don't think you'd need 3. Make sure you get the appropriate respirator. The vapor is toxic |
Question: | Can more people please post pictures of paint jobs and list the color used so people can see what the colors truly look like? In various lighting too |
Answer: | Substrate isn't extremely important, but prep, as with painting anything, is key. Assuming you've got the basic prep down for painting your guitar, I would apply this excellent two-part clear, when either the paint you are applying is still tacky, or wait for your paint to cure if you have any imperfections and wet sand them out, then reapply one more color coat of paint and spray 2 or 3 coats of your clear. If you notice any imperfections in the paint/clear, just wait a few days until fully cured, then begin wet sanding with 1500/2000 grit up to 3000 grit and use some aggressive quality correcting rubbing compound and follow up with less aggressive polishing compound like the Meguiars M101 and M102 combo. I'm no professional painter, but I've impressed even myself and others following these steps. Just make sure you plan ahead and use as much as you can before the clear hardens in the can because after you mix the catalyst in with the clear it will harden...figure about 1 to 2 days time depending on humidity and temperature. |
Question: | I want to coat a wooden box with this so it doesn't catch on fire from a high energy 1,000+ watt bulb placed inside. Will it work |
Answer: | Good question. I have a vw jetta and I did not plan to use primer as my mission was to fix that bad clear coat on my car. I ended up using primer as I repainted everything from the hood to trunk. I ran short of paint as more paint was used in the new primer. So I had to seal the paint and come back to fix it later. Two cans just got the paint sealed. It went on great and gor hard in less that one day. Make sure that you scratch the car and maybe the primer if that is the kind you use. Has some peal on one spot do to that. I will schach what I have done add paint and clear again then I am sure it will be right. For the space I told you about on my jetta take 3 cans over the 2 I used. I hope that will help. |

User questions & answers
Question: | will this work on alloy wheels |
Answer: | this is just my opinion, I used "clear cost from Touch Up Direct" It's not inexpensive. I wouldn't use any of this type of paint on an auto. I can do a lot of different things and I am ok to poor at auto touch up. I manage. I did touch up/repaired a scratch on my ridgeline. The clear coat is kinda tough, I managed. Check out UTUBE videos, there are some great videos on touching up and applying clear coat. You need like 1000 to 1500 wet sand paper. anywho Mine came out adequate. It came out not as shiney looking as it was originally but fine for me. Remember auto shops have Oven's. For me the cost was massive between them doing it or me so I figured why not. I found a couple of Clear coats and used "Touch Up Direct" Rust Oleum type paints are good for ceramics, wood projects etc. The Videos are a big help. Hope that helps. |
Question: | Will other paint stick to this paint if used for other things like crafts |
Answer: | That complicates things. If you do want to try it, wrap it up really well in case the pressure causes it to explode at altitude. Worst thing that could happen is TSA takes it from you at the airport. |
Question: | Clicked on grabber green and item description does not match part number. if i order this what color will i receive |
Answer: | yes it will - you may need to wet sand it with some 2000-3000 grit paper if you spray too hard though. |
Question: | How close does dupli-color ford blue 1601 match plasti-kote old ford blue |
Answer: | Compared to clear coat application on a car NO.May cause a chemical reactions on the car's existing paint and clearcoat. |

Question: | Will this have problems repelling gas or oil |
Answer: | I’m not sure tbh I used it to clear over vht tint on my tail lights and for that it sucked lol turned out to have more of satin finish instead of the gloss I was looking for. I’d say if the cure time is followed should be fine |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it possible to use this on plastic outdoor furniture to help the paint adhere, or does it just work on "automotive" plastics |
Answer: | If the outdoor furniture is ABS Plastic, it should work. Just read the label for its' application. |
Question: | Can you use with Auto Air Colors |
Answer: | As long as you use it over plastic and foll the instructions, yes. I let it just det dry to the point that it doesn't look wet and start painting. I have used it for years an had zero adhesion failures on plastics. |
Question: | Just curious. Does the product's label indicate how much area 1 can covers? Thanks in advance |
Answer: | The back label states that it covers 12-14 square feet. Hope this helps. |
Question: | After applying this to bare plastic, do I need a primer before the base coat? Or can I just apply the base color coat to this |
Answer: | What this stuff does is essentially chemically break down the surface of the plastic so that when you paint, which you must do immediately, the color binds with the dissolved plastic and as the adhesion promoter dries/evaporates you are left with a surface where the plastic material and the foreign material (paint) is dissolved together. This allows the next coat to bind with the first coat and the third coat to bind with the second and so on. Don't wait for this stuff to dry. Follow the directions on the can carefully. If you let it dry then the plastic has already re-formed and your first coat is not going to bind. |

Question: | Will this work on gym equipment? Looking to paint my squat rack neon green. Thx |
Answer: | It is an oil based dressing, and dressing is actually designed to attract dirt and dust because dressing is made to be applied and removed. Not only does dressing make the trim look nicer, but it also protects it by getting dirty so you can remove the dirt easier and reapply new dressing after. For more information about dressing visit http://www.chemicalguys.com/category_s/612.htm |
