Answer: | Correct. Brakes are so "important to society" that they take the confusion out of them and make them reasonably fool proof. The synthetics are good but have different hydroscopic characteristics. Therefore it is a bad idea to mix synthetic with conv.Don't put DOT3 into a DOT4 vehicle but DOT4 can go into a DOT3 vehicle.There is one more consideration. So may people know about Honda and Subaru finickiness with fluids that it's a smart idea to just get Honda fluid so you can truthfully, "I've put nothing but Honda fluids into this Honda>" Believe me. it'll pay off when you go to sell the car. |

Answer: | There is no difference. Both have the same catalog number, same SAE designation, same boiling point, etc. The older lots were labeled Heavy Duty, while the newer lots simply say Brake Fluid. I have on hand both types of bottles. Only the name on the label is different. |
