The ear pads are then put inside the helmet where your ears on Velcro (that comes along with the product), and the microphone is also attached inside where it will swing towards your mouth. Everything you need to put this on your helmet comes with the product, and instructions as well. My family has been using them for about 6 months now, and we just love them. When the intercom button is pressed, the music will pause until you end the conversation and then it will resume from the pause point. If music is playing and the phone rings, you can choose to answer the call and the music will pause until the phone call is ended and then the music will resume. We have also been able to use the units to share a phone call. (Three wall calling). Hope this helps..... On a side note, we have found the range to be just a bit less than a mile. The one time we did get separated in heavy traffic, I just used the phone feature and called her phone and we talked on the phone until we were able to see one another again.
