Answer:	There is no cardboard bottom. The fabric is a little heavier. I have mine sitting on the hump in front of the front seat. Actually if it was a ridgid bottom, I think it would have a tendancy to slide around. Mine stays in place and I have it filled with maps, wipes, flashlight and other miscellaneous items. It works great for me.
