Viper car alarms are well-known and trusted automotive security systems designed to protect vehicles from theft and unauthorized access. These alarms are part of the extensive range of car security products and accessories available in the market. Here are some key features and information about Viper car alarms:
Remote Control: Viper car alarms come with a remote control that allows vehicle owners to arm and disarm the alarm system conveniently. These remotes often have a range of functions beyond just activating the alarm, such as locking and unlocking the doors and even remote start capabilities.
Security Features: Viper car alarms typically offer a range of security features to safeguard your vehicle. These may include shock sensors that detect vibrations or impacts, motion sensors to detect movement inside the vehicle, and glass break sensors to identify the sound of broken windows.
Keyless Entry: Many Viper car alarm systems also provide keyless entry functionality, allowing you to unlock and lock your vehicle without using a physical key. This adds convenience while maintaining security.
Starter Kill: Viper alarms often include a starter kill feature, which prevents the vehicle's engine from starting if the alarm is triggered. This is an effective way to deter thieves from hotwiring your car.
Two-Way Communication: Some Viper alarm systems come with two-way communication between the remote control and the vehicle. This means that the remote can receive feedback from the car, confirming whether the alarm has been successfully armed or disarmed.
Sensitivity Adjustment: Viper alarms usually allow for sensitivity adjustments to sensors. This customization ensures that the alarm is not triggered unnecessarily by small disturbances, such as passing vehicles or strong winds.
Remote Start: In addition to security features, some Viper alarm systems offer remote start capabilities. This allows you to start your car remotely, which can be especially useful in extreme weather conditions.
GPS Tracking: Certain Viper models may include GPS tracking systems that enable you to locate your vehicle in real-time if it is stolen. This feature can assist law enforcement in recovering the vehicle.
Smartphone Integration: Some Viper car alarms can be integrated with smartphone apps, allowing you to control and monitor your vehicle's security remotely using your mobile device.
Installation: Viper car alarms are typically installed by professionals who specialize in automotive security systems. Proper installation is crucial to ensure the alarm functions effectively.

User questions & answers
Question: | I have a 78 Pontiac. How will I know what cables to splice and connect to? i doubt it comes with instructions for a 1978 pontiac...any ideas |
Answer: | You are going to need to trace all color coded wiring. The door locks are color coded for your up and down positions. The system works great but you need to plan a lot of time. I added a trunk release to the remote which required a separate relay purchase. The instructions do come with enough information to connect the system. I installed the system on a 1985 Monte Carlo. Good Luck! Worse case you pay a professional to install it. The most it should cost should be $150.00 |
Question: | Does the alarm have a silent mode so that my neighbors won't know when I arrive by the sound of me locking my car |
Answer: | Best idea... thieves are INSIDE the car... place alarm INSIDE. Now you won't bug neighbors as much either. |
Question: | Features that come with system? shock sensor, dome light, starter kill, comfort closure, parking light flash, anti-carjacking? Thanks |
Answer: | Yes, comes with shock sensor, dome light, parking light flash, and anit carjacking thats it, but works very well and would recommend to purchase. |
Question: | Classic convertible - need door/shock sensor & ignition kill. Can door sensor be wired to hood/trunk etc switches |
Answer: | It would depend on the type of switch those areas would have, if any. Most vehicles will not have a factory switch for the hood, so you would need to add one. But this alarm allows for the doors and hood/trunk areas to be monitored while the alarm is armed. It will also have a slot on the alarm to hook up a additional shock sensor, but the alarm has a built-in shock sensor already. Also, along with a relay that can be wired up for the ignition kill. Hope that helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How to brighten the remote screen |
Answer: | Unfortunately.. you're stuck with the stock brightness settings.. |
Question: | Does this system have voice arm and disarm rather then the chirp? If not whats needed to add that capability |
Answer: | hello, thank you for your inquiry. You will need a module 516U in order for the system to have the voice arming/disarming. |
Question: | does this product come with installation paper work considering the seller is viper |
Answer: | Viper only list what each of their connectors does, it does not give you specific wiring diagrams for your vehicle. You'll have to do your own research or get it installed by the pro's. Some places only charge a hundred dollars to install it so you may want them to do a professional job where they guarantee it. |
Question: | Will this have the Viper warranty coverage |
Answer: | No. Viper Clearly states that Amazon is a unauthorized dealer and if you buy from any online vendor it will automatically void the warranty even if you bring it to a authorized installer. read upon http://www.viper.com/WhereToBuy/Unauthorized.aspx |

The Viper 5706v Responder LC3 is a complete security and remote start system with a full one mile range. The remote has easy to understand priority icons and a text screen on a LCD display. This allows you to command and monitor the vehicle with simple and prioritized buttons. The five buttons control up to 24 different functions on two cars! Plus, it is the slimmest display remote on the market today but still packed with the latest features. Not only is this a security system but it also has remote start capabilities. If the Active Temp Check is selected, the Responder will display the temperature inside of the vehicle instead of the time. This comes in handy as it lets you view the temperature before actually walking to your car. Not cool, or warm enough in your car yet? Use the Runtime reset to extend your runtime and let it reach the perfect conditions. If anything happens to your vehicle, the security system will notify you right away if you are within range, playing the Revenger siren tones.

Hope this helps! |

Viper 5706V 2-Way Car Security with Remote Start System
Responder LC3 – the 3rd generation of Responder, complete with SST One Mile Range, the new Priority icons and text seen on a 20% larger liquid-crystal display, an onboard lithium-ion rechargeable battery with micro-USB recharging – all in the slimmest display remote on the market.
Combining one of the best features of Responder with all the 'New Technology Platform' advances introduced with one of the Best of Innovations Responder LE, Responder LC3 systems come with one 2-Way LC3 SST one mile range remote and a companion 1-way long range remote.
Responder LC3 lets you command and monitor your vehicle like never before, with our Priority icons – simple and prioritized for easy use - plus clear text labels on the large LCD screen. With the Priority User Interface, the five buttons control 24 functions on each of two cars! And with the Priority Icon Map, the most important icons reside in the center of the large LCD screen, 3 times larger than the less-critical icons positioned on the edges of the screen. It’s undeniably the most sophisticated one mile range LCD remote ever!
In remote start mode, if Active Temp Check is selected, Responder LC3 will display Temperature (in either Fahrenheit or Celsius) instead of the time (the default display). Now you can see the actual temperature inside the vehicle, before walking through the weather to get to it! If it isn’t warm enough inside your car yet, use Runtime Reset to extend your runtime. Don’t worry about forgetting about your car – Responder LC3 reminds you 3 minutes before your time runs out, with an audible tone, a vibration, and on the screen.
If anything happens to your vehicle, Responder LC3 notifies you right away if you are within range, playing the Revenger siren tones from inside your pocket. If anything has happened to your vehicle during your absence, LC3 spells out what happened when you unlock your doors: 'Shock Sensor' for example:
you can silence your car’s siren and only be alerted on your remote, with Silent Mode2 sirenless arming. Arm your alarm with the door open and Responder LC3 will alert you – audibly and with large readable text: 'Door Open'. Responder LC3 gives you an unprecedented level of control.
Only the important icons are displayed - unused icons disappear from the screen to keep the display clean and simple. 'Ghosted' icons – outlined icons only without their typical solid body - indicate that you’ve changed something. For instance, while a solid padlock icon shows your alarm is armed and your doors are locked, an outlined padlock indicates your doors are locked in Valet Mode. The words 'Valet Mode' appear to make sure you’re clear on the status of your car.
Some of the many New Technology Platform features incorporated into the system include:

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the remote play tones or vibrates when alarm is trigered ? Or only led notifications |
Answer: | You need an immobilizer (bypass) unit. |
Question: | will this work with VW GOLF 4 year 2000. Will it work the engine start if the car was not provided with such technology |
Answer: | This can be installed on a standard transmission, although most states frown upon this, you will have to bypass the clutch safe switch which will vary from vehicle to vehicle. This can be as simple as taping down a button, or wiring in a mosfet if the signal requires a reset. Important to note that if you leave the car in gear, and remote start the vehicle it WILL move and potentially damage property or injure someone (thus its illegal or frowned upon in most states) |
Question: | what else do I need for a 2003 chevy silverado diesel |
Answer: | I went to best buy for it to be installed on a 99 F250 diesel truck. It works great but never again will I have best buy do a install. When I looked under the dash and seen the mess of wires and then I wanted to see what kind of splice tap they had done. I untaped a connection and to my shock this Geek Squad guy cut the insulation off and some of the wire strands with a razor blade, no solder just wire wrapped around the factory wire. Throughly pissed off went back to bestbuy and got the manager out of the store too have him look at the install. Oh he said those are "military splices" lol told him I'm not in the military and paid for a professional install. Well after I got done with him and threatened to take him to court. Best buy did a reinstall with soldered and heatshrink splices and tied up wire harnesses. Be leary of Bestbuy installation of equipment. Hopefully not all stores are like the one here. Alarm and remote start work great, can start the truck up a half mile away. |
Question: | Is this the whole system or just the remotes |
Answer: | Just did a install on a diesel there is a wire to connect to the wait to start light then following that you can set it to start immediately or wait up to 20 seconds for it to start. Works well on my 7.3 idi |
