Hi, Mike I feed my neutered male lab royal canin labrador retreiver 30, and have done so for most of his 8 years on this earth. He loves it and has thrived on it. Smooth, shiny coat, white teeth, breath doesn't smell "doggy", though latter may have to do with the rope toys he chews on. I very briefly fed royal canin large breed at about 15 months, but went to breed-specific labrador retreiver 30 and stuck with it since. He seemed to prefer the latter, don't know why. Wish I could ask him! Comparing the two, It seems to me that protein count is marginally higher in labrador retreiver 30, and kibble size is bigger, supposedly to "force" the dog to chew, as labs are notorious "gulpers". I'd say that if you're happy, and he does well with what you're feeding, there's no reason to change. I don't think you're gonna lose either way. May you both live long, healthy, happy lives. Gary
