User questions & answers
Question: | How does the warranty work since this isn’t purchased directly through Janome |
Answer: | Lots of feet, I also received the plexiglass sewing table extension and a thread holder that fits several spools. |
Question: | Will this machine handle a Denim slip cover |
Answer: | This is basically the same as the 7700 QCP machine I have and yes, it does have the 7-part feed dog system. Even my 20 year old Janome/New Home Memory Craft 4000 has it! |
Question: | Can I take this item to a local authorized dealership for servicing and will they honor the warranty |
Answer: | Length and width? Yes the 8200 does. |
Question: | What is the largest quilt that can be quilted on this machine |
Answer: | If you mean length and widths, yes. It has pretty much everything. Auto tension too. My favorite is the button to cut the thread at the end of sewing. And the knee lift is a tremendous help at time. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have a Janome C30 with Part #102261000, will these work |
Answer: | I am not sure, I would think they would work. |
Question: | I have the Janome "Decor Computer" will these fit |
Answer: | Yes! These bobbins work on all horizontal top loading machines such as the "DC" models and many others. |
Question: | What size are these |
Answer: | Standard size for all Janome machines. |
Question: | My new Janome says to only use "J" bobbins. Are these what they are talking about |
Answer: | The bobbins have a letter J on the center shaft. It is clear like the rest of the bobbin, but is covered up with thread when the bobbin is wound. I took a fine tip marker and put a J on one flat side of the bobbin so I could always tell the Janome from other bobbins. |

You can adjust the flange to sit up to a full inch away from the edge of the foot in seconds and create perfectly straight hems every time. The guide can be moved freely and easily by just lifting the lever in the back of the foot, instead of having to mess with an annoying screw. The clear markings make certain you know exactly where you want your foot to go.

User questions & answers
Question: | does this machine embroider |
Answer: | I have included a photo from the manual of the stitches and have updated the review to indicate the stitches. It may be uploaded in several days you can check out the stitches then. I'm not certain but if you look at the stitches it may be helpful with embroidery or it may be best to purchase a separate machine for that purpose. As I indicated in the review I primarily sew clothing, but not with decorative stitching. Hope that helps. I truly love this machine so if you're just going to sew clothes or detail edging with some embroidery perhaps it may work for you. |
Question: | does the machine cut your thread |
Answer: | The machine does not have an automatic cutter within as many high end machines do. It does have the regular thread cutter mounted on the side so that you can cut it manually without having to use scissors. My more expensive machines automatically cut threads from within at the press of a button. This Janome does not. |
Question: | What kind of bobbin do I buy to go with this machine |
Answer: | It uses the most common bobbin out there. It's round with little holes on the sides. They come in plastic or metal. Amazon has a large selection of them. Just search for Janome bobbins. I bought a case of 25 plastic bobbins for around $7. |
Question: | How does bobbin work |
Answer: | The bobbin drops in from the top. The bobbin should be placed so that the thread end is toward the right, then it is pulled back to the left under a slot in the bobbin holder. The machine is very quiet and works great. I really like it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why is it that most of the Janome users previously owned Singer or Kenmore? Anything has to be better than either of those--so what's the real benefit of a Janome HD3000 vs a Pfaff |
Answer: | I purchased this machine for my daughter so that when I visited her in another state I would have something to do. I was sewing ragtime quilts for her girls. I was concerned about sewing through so many layers and might need to get a special presser foot. I did not need anything extra. not. It is a great machine! |
Question: | Is it made mostly of plastic |
Answer: | The trick is to get the right needle. So look for heavy duty or denim needles . You can use Schmetz or Organ brand for this machine as well as Janome's needles. Do not use any Singer products on this machine. |
Question: | does this machine sew through multiple layers of denim |
Answer: | If it is "shipped and sold by Amazon" or sold by an authorized retailer (which you can check by using their zip code on the Janome website) then yes it is covered by the warranty because it is being sold by an authorized seller. However you will need to send the machine to the Janome NJ service department or to the store you bought it from to get the free service in the first year. Read the full information here: http://sewingsummit.com/janome-sewing-machine-reviews/janome-warranty-usa/. |
Question: | What makes this machine heavy duty? Does it have metal parts and frame? What is the motor size and how does that relate to "heavy duty |
Answer: | Yes, it is a good machine especially for a total beginner. Why? Because 1. It's not one of those toys going for $25.00 that breaks as soon as you plug it in, causes frustration and you end up quitting; and 2. Janome is one of the top 3 BEST sewing machine makers in the world. They stand behind their products and they do not disappoint. Very few Janomes end up in the repair shop. You want to start out with something simple so you can avoid confusion and learn the basics like I did. This machine is simple. If you have a good teacher (yeah, Youtube can be very helpful), follow the instruction manual, take your time and start with small simple projects you will do fine on this machine. This is why so many schools buy this very model for their sewing students in home ec class. This machine is white just like in the photo. It comes with a 5 pack of spare universal needles size 12 and maybe 6 spare bobbins. You should buy needles since you should change needles every project or every 4 hours of sewing time which ever comes first. Janome Brand, Organ or Schmetz flat shank are good. If you need more bobbins I would find a certified Janome dealer to buy from. Not all bobbins fit all machines. Do not use anything SINGER with this machine. And finally, make sure you buy from an authorized Janome dealer or the warranty will be void. Contact Janome for a list of dealers in your area. They have a website and FB page. |
