User questions & answers
Question: | Is the needle plate supposed to be not flush on one side |
Answer: | The serger is about 10-7/8 front to back without the scrap catcher. It would be a very close fit. Not even close with the scrap catcher in place. |
Question: | does this machine have automatic tension |
Answer: | Very fast! Machine is comparable to a babylock evolution. |
Question: | Does this machine have a free arm to sew sleeve openings |
Answer: | Denise,There are more than one "package" related to the Juki MO-1000. Some have the feet. Somedo not.http://www.amazon.com/Juki-MO-1000-Serger-Combo-Deal/dp/B00I16PP5A/ref=pd_sim_sbs_ac_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0WWHBM9KCQPNZF68BRBVThe above is a listing with the feet.Thank you,Sew Vac Direct |
Question: | I work with heavy material (canvas). I'm concerned that this machine will handle the weight. I don't need the knife to cut the material, I do need to know that it will stitch properly. Thanks for the information |
Answer: | It comes with the basic presser foot. The other listing you see are for different packages that include different feet. This machine can take lots of different feet, but it only comes with one. We can create a package with more feet if you need them. The best thing is to try to determine what type of projects you will e doing and then we can determine which feet and accessories would be best to start out with. Consider the 8002D?
Consider the 8002D as the next level of sewing, with a minimal footprint. A serger will provide your sewing projects with the final step of finishing seams or quick and easy rolled hems. Plus, using a serger will turn tricky projects with knit fabrics, into a breeze. This compact model will upgrade your sewing space, without sacrificing the valuable table space that a full sized serger might!
The value of differential feed adjustment – This dial will greatly help to minimize any puckering or stretching that could occur on other sergers with tricky fabrics. Two feed dogs are used in this system; one feeds the appropriate amount of fabric for the setting on the stitch length dial and the other pulls or pushed the fabric according to the ratio set on the differential feed dial. Puckered edges on woven fabrics are prevented by setting the differential feed dial between 0.5 and 1.0. Stretched edges on knit fabrics are prevented by setting the differential feed dial between 1.0 and 2.25.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this actually self threading or do I still need to thread the lower loops |
Answer: | idk about the plexiglass, but it holds a small container of vitamins with ease as well as a small mirror |
Question: | What is in bknus package |
Answer: | The arm that is flexible is 2 ft long. |
Question: | what is a cover stich |
Answer: | The pads on the clamp will clamp evenly on a 1 inch thickness as the pads are parallel at 1 inch. The clamp will open to over 2 inches but anything at about 1-1/2 inches and up the pads do not make parallel contact and you risk the clamp slipping off when weight is applied because only a slight surface at the back of the clamp makes contact. Also, as you open the clamp beyond 1 inch, the spring, which is very strong, takes a lot of force to open. Hope this helps. |
Question: | How fast does it sew and does this machine run quietly |
Answer: | Yes, IPhone 6 Plus will fit on the clamp holder. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How wide are the stitched rows |
Answer: | A little less than 1/4 inch. There are 2.5 cm in an inch, so the actual width of .5 cm (5 mm) is 1/5 of an inch. If you want rows of stitching farther apart, you need a three needle (4 spools of thread) cover stitch machine like the Janome 1000 CPX. The 900 CPX is a two needle machine, which is just fine for many people including me. The three needle machines give you more flexibility - you can use all three to have three lines of sewing on top of fabric, or you can remove any one of the needles to get different placements of two lines of stitching. Removing the center needle leaves the outside two needles, which are farther apart than 5 mm. I'm not sure how far apart. And either of the machines let's you use only one needle to chain stitch, which is extremely easy to pull out, excellent for basting or temporary uses of fabric in things like curtains. |
Question: | How well does it do when applying the coverstitch over the elastic around the edge of leotards and swimwear |
Answer: | Well, I am not going to lie. This is a finicky machine but as I read, all of them are. I had to put the differential feed way low and for some reason my left needle has to be very tight on the tension. When it works, its a dream and I have made a ton of swimwear and elastic tops. When its cranky, its not so fun. With how much sewing I do, it was completely worth it to me, but be aware of the learning curve involved. |
Question: | Does this work as a serger too? Thanks |
Answer: | Hi Jackie. It does not. Please call the store at 800-442-8227 and ask for our sewing machine for further details. Thank you Scott |
Question: | Do you have to sew off the fabric or can you stop while still on the fabric? For example, doing the hem of a skirt, how do you end the hem |
Answer: | When sewing a hem, you need to complete the entire hem by overlapping where you started, at least a couple stitches. You must then take the threads off properly by pulling the front threads forward, cutting them, and then pulling your project to the rear of the machine and the looper thread with it. You'll cut the looper thread toward the rear of the machine, turn your project over, and then tie the three loose threads in a knot. To see a video of this on YouTube, search for "how to sew on a Janome CoverPro." Once you get used to the procedure, it's very easy. |

The Janome MyLock 634D with electronic control is the most advanced MyLock serger. It has 2 needles and 2, 3 or 4 thread overlock stitching. The differential feed ratio, which is adjustable from .05 to 2.25, provides increased control for handling all types of fabrics and for creating desired special effects. Threading is a breeze due to color-coded thread guides and a self-threading lower looper. Simply lay the thread into the guide, flip a switch, and the lower looper is threaded. The guide is automatically returned to its normal position when you turn the balance wheel. And when you lift the presser foot for rethreading, the thread tensions are automatically released so you can draw the thread smoothly. The MyLock 634D also lets you quickly switch to rolled hemming without changing the needle plate. A lower looper pre-tension stitch eliminates the need to change tension for rolled hems.

User questions & answers
Question: | What size and type of needles are used |
Answer: | Scmetz Overlock Serger ELx705 Needles |
Question: | does it include seam guide |
Answer: | no it does not. You determine where you want your hem or binding to be. It does not have markings from what I remember. I use the marks on the front of the foot for placement. I sold this machine and my new machine has markings but they are not labeled 3/8, 1/2, etc. A hem guide is handy, a bit of painter's tape if you need one. |
Question: | Can you use zipper foot, button hole foot and walking foot and ect on this machine |
Answer: | No The specialty presser feet are a clear presser foot , edge guide presser foot, chainstitch presser foot and pintuck foot. The attachments are Binder attachment, Belt loop attachment, elastic attachment, and Fold hem guides. I have the clear presser foot, but I have not used any of the all the rest of the others. I use my machine to do hems |
Question: | What do you mean by wide trip cover hem stitch? Also, what is the distance between the two lines of top stitching and can that be adjusted |
Answer: | 2 outside needles about 1/4 inch or inside left to center, right to center for 1/2 inch. same hem as you see on say sleeve of a tshirt. 2 needles or 3 needles |
