Pressure

Using the brush tip, apply a light amount of pressure (using mainly the tip of the brush) to apply a light layer of color. Apply even more pressure (using the full width of the brush) to apply a darker layer of color.

Streaking

Use the broad chisel tip to create straight, consecutive lines to fill large areas. Apply one layer for lighter fills and multiple layers for darker fills.

Feathering

Apply more pressure at the beginning of the stroke and release pressure at the end of stroke using a flicking motion. Use light, swift strokes to create a feathered edge for blending.

Circular Strokes

Use the brush tip to draw small circular shapes to create an even distribution of color. This creates a more saturated fill.

Step 1

Draw a shape and fill with ink using the lightest pressure to create the first layer of color. For best results, use a hard lead pencil to draw outlines to prevent smudging.

Answer:	Sorry, Amazon won't let me submit a review for some reason. I'd say they're pretty good for the price ($27), but there are drawbacks. Brush tips can be expensive and I personally think these are a good niche-case. PROS > Good color selection, especially with Blues, Greens, Pinks, and Purples > Colors blend well (If Tombow were an A+, then these are a solid B) > Brush tip material feels very similar to the Tombow brand they imitate > Included foam holster (surprisingly useful, way more convenient/easy than a book-style holder) CONS > Plastic feels a bit cheap > Ink colors rarely match the color of the cap (some are spot-on, most are close, but a small handful are way off) > No color codes printed on the side (hard to make swatch-sheets for color references) > Some of mine were overloaded with ink. Not a huge deal, but some people might have a peeve about that. Pro-tip: Wrap some duct tape around the side of the foam holster. It'll keep it from ripping and will basically last until it dry rots.

Answer:	Handheld sharpeners are too hard on Prismacolors. (It's the wood that's the problem, not the core.) Your pencils will eventually start breaking when being sharpened. Buy a helical blade sharpener. I've been using one for months now and no more broken pencils! This is the one I bought, so you can see what a helical blade looks like. (I have no affiliation with the company other than I bought their sharpener.) There are several here on Amazon for under $20 but they don't always put "helical" in the title or description. Answer:	Prismacolor Pencils are the Cadillac of colored pencils. I really don't have words to describe the difference. They are wonderful.

Answer:	Prismacolor premier colored pencils comes in two cores. The hard core, which is great for outlining and drawing sharp edges is known as Prismacolor premier verithin colored pencils (comes in a set from 12 to 36)while the soft core which is best for shading and blending is simply called prismacolor premier colored pencils ( comes in a set from 12 to 150) I have them both in the biggest set but I haven't used them yet because I just recently ordered them. You could also purchase them individually if you want. Hope this helps.

Question:	Are both sides of the paper the same
Answer:	Even on regular paper it takes a little bit of time for the ink to dry. I can't imagine how much longer it would take on vellum. Seems weird that you'd be taking a drafting exam on vellum.

Answer:	My pens are labeled not specifically labeled "acid-free" but are labeled "archival ink". I looked up the difference on Google, and basically the ink has a neutral pH of 7.0 which means that any it should not make your paper more "acidic". It should not affect your paper's pH. Answer:	It inks extremely well on media paper although I am not familiar with the Canson type. It does not bled through any paper I have used yet and I highly recommend investing in one as it lasts a very long time when being used or stored.

Answer:	These are among the best pens available. I am a graphic artist and these are my favorite pens. Whether they dry up on a single drawing is totally dependent on how big and complex the drawing is.

Answer:	I took a piece of black card stock and I wrote my name on it. It didn't bleed and it looks fine, to me. They are not expensive pens but I found them to work well with my projects. Good luck.

Answer:	I have the 10 size and it writes perfect every time. I have not had any issues with it smearing or coming off once it is dry. Does not take too long to dry.

Answer:	I find people underestimate Crayola colored pencils, because of the name. People hear Crayola and automatically think of the crayons. Don't think the pencils are something cheaply made. You definitely need a manual sharpener for traveling, but as the electrics go, I give the Derwent very high marks. One thing most people don't realize is that you should sharpen plain old #2 graphite pencils once in a while to keep the blades in great shape. It will save wear and tear on your expensive color pencils.

Answer:	As per Prismacolor's official website: "The wax used in the Premier Soft Core Colored Pencils is a soft wax, which makes their color lay down smooth and creamy. The Scholar Colored Pencils use a combination of a soft and hard wax. The soft wax used in the Scholar pencils is the same as used in the Premier Soft Core pencils but a harder wax is also added, making the Scholar pencils a little harder and less prone to breakage. The purpose of this slightly harder lead in the Scholar set is to aid developing artists as they learn the right amount of pressure to apply when working with colored pencils. The percentage of pigment used in the Premier Soft Core Colored Pencils is also greater, resulting in more vibrant colors."

Answer:	Personally, while the Scholar line IS harder than the Premier line, they're still softer than most other colored pencils. The colors are very similar to the Premier line, too, with the exception of Violet. The Violet in the Scholar line is much, much lighter than the Premier violet. When I first got into colored pencils, I wanted the Prismacolor Premier, but I wasn't sure I'd like them. I got the Scholars first, and they were so soft and buttery that I couldn't imagine anything being any better. The Premier is better, of course, but if you're getting into colored pencil art or even adult coloring books, these are amazing pencils for the price. In fact, I have the full set of 150 Prismacolor Premier, and I just ordered another Scholar 60-set. I use them in my coloring books a lot to save my more expensive ones!
