Answer:	The best brush to use when painting Martha Stewart Crafts Chalkboard Paint is to use a soft, flexible bristle brush such as one of the Martha Stewart Crafts Taklon bristle brushes. A natural bristle brush would be too soft, making it hard to move the Chalkboard Paint around; and a chip brush type bristle would be too stiff, creating a surface that would show brush marks. A Taklon bristle brush is sturdy enough to easily move the paint where directed, yet soft enough that a smooth, even application of paint can be painted. Be sure to allow ample dry time between paint applications because you are not working on a porous surface. Make sure the moisture from the paint, as fully evaporated before applying a second coat of Chalkboard paint.
Question:	Do you need to prime the surface first? I’m hoping to paint fabric
Answer:	I've only painted on wood and metal but I think it's safe to say that it should be clean. If you're going to paint fabric maybe you should wash the fabric first. Also maybe do a test first if you have some some extra fabric.

Answer:	This is a thick liquid...but spreads well...it says it can be applied to unfinished wood...But, I used it over chalk paint, did go on a bit darker than I liked, so next time I will use the minwax antique paste wax, when I want a lighter antique finish. Instructions.. did recommend, if using over chalk paint and want a lighter antique look...use clear wax first. Hope this helps.

Answer:	No. The people who are saying yes are not thinking this through. Toilet seats should not be painted with any kind of paint. It will stick, but when you scrub the seat to clean it, it will eventually come off like any paint. This is why things like toilet seats, bathtubs, the insides of sinks, etc., are not painted but enameled, or else made of material that is already colored (like colored plastic). Trust me--I have seen sinks and bathtubs painted in a strange Alaskan apartment complex. It is a bad idea.

Answer:	Our chalkboards are old green ones that we painted with black chalkboard paint to make them look more modern. Does not erase very well - I have to use something wet to get the board truly clean

Answer:	I have actually on a plastic kitchen set (smooth) and an activity table (texture) with two coats everything has held up no problem. This is about a year since I applied it.

Answer:	Just found a work-around! You can use a sealer to make a porous chalkboard non-porous (or to lock in a sign that you don't want to change). I found this info on the Crafty Crock (who sells the liquid markers, so it makes sense that they'd have solutions. Here's what they say:"In either case, we recommend using either In either case, we recommend using either Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Spray or if you prefer a matte finish, then Aleene's Spray Acrylic Sealer Matte Finish will work well. Apply 3 coats of sealer if you are sealing a porous surface so that you can easily erase your chalk markers in the future. A single coat should do if you are sealing over top of your chalk markers so they can't be erased. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions on the spray can. or if you prefer a matte finish, then Aleene's Spray Acrylic Sealer Matte Finish will work well. Apply 3 coats of sealer if you are sealing a porous surface so that you can easily erase your chalk markers in the future. Tips for a Perfect Chalkboard Finish

Remove any loose paint or rust, lightly sand glossy surfaces, rinse clean with soap/water and let surface fully dry.

Sanding surface before application allows for a smooth finish. Primer is recommended, especially for use on bare wood or metal. For best brush-on results, use a foam roller.

Condition Surface

After 3 days, rub the side of a piece of chalk over the entire surface to increase erasability and then erase clean.

Wait for 7 Days Before Wiping Down

In order to achieve the best chalkboard surface, wait 7 days after conditioning with chalk before cleaning with soap and water. Repeat conditioning step after wiping down.

Answer:	I use a variety of glazes from Lowe’s or Home Depot. My favorite is probably Bhr, mixed with a dark paint. I believe the glaze to paint ratio mix is 4 parts glaze 1 part paint.
Question:	Does this work on chalkboards from craft stores or chalkboard paint
Answer:	Yes Shabby Chic Multi Surface Sealant is low odor as it is water-based, however keep out of reach of children. In case of eye contact rinse immediately with clean water or in case of skin contact wash off with warm soapy water. If ingested seek medical attention. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

​1. Will these liquid chalk markers work on my chalkboard?



Chalkboards are produced by a large variety of manufacturers and come in a wide range of materials. As a result, it is important to determine if your chalkboard has a porous or non-porous surface. If your chalkboard is made from a non-porous material (like slate chalkboards, glass, mirrors, etc.) liquid chalk markers are extremely easy to erase with just a damp cloth. For porous chalkboard surfaces, the pigment can get absorbed by the surface causing a shadow to be left behind when removed. This is true of all liquid chalk markers on the market.



2. Can I use these liquid chalk markers on my painted wall?



Painted (and unsealed) surfaces are very porous and it can absorb the pigment from the ink and will leave a shadow when removed. Some may not erase at all. It’s all about the surface. We highly recommend sealing a painted surface with a clear sealer first before using liquid chalk markers on them.



3. The chalk markers seem to be drying out and won’t write or they are too watery. What should I do?



When they appear to be dry or watery, shaking them vigorously for at least 30 seconds usually resolves the problem. Make sure the cap is on tight before shaking. Then prime the tip by pumping it on a clean surface until ink flows smoothly (this can take up to 30 seconds the first time or if they haven’t been used in a while).



4. The tip is frayed. Can I replace them?



Each packet comes with replacement tips and it is really easy to replace them. You just need to pull it out gently then put in the new one properly. Please make sure to hold the marker with the tip facing up while replacing it and prime the tip first before use. You can use a paper towel to prevent ink from getting on your hands.

When we have enough to fill a complete case, the toothbrushes are packed and shipped to one of our Humanitarian Aid partners around the world.

They receive them and take care of passing them out in the local communities they serve. Our goal is to color every country with a little love from Crafty Croc, through the Crafty Cares program.
