| Answer: | The chemicals in embossing powders may react negatively with ModgePodge (cloudiness, curdling, etc.). If you don't need the heating part, there are beautiful pigments (superfine plain powders) available on the market and Amazon, such as PearlEx, by Jacquard, and other brands, that are much easier to use than embossing powders and are meant to be mixed with anything--either water base or non water base. The colors are spectacular and can be intermixed indefinitely. I use PearlEx pigments with white (regular) glue; Modge Podge; wood varnish (oil based) and any other clear varnish; acrylic or oil paints (gorgeous results when mixed with gold paint!); papier mâche; grout for mosaics, etc. Embossing powders have a specific purpose; I use them only with the heat gun for greeting cards.
