Question:	Will this cut vinyl decals
Answer:	I would recommend against it. The laser uses concentrated light and as such generates a lot of heat. The vinyl material may (probably) release toxic gasses and the heat will likely distort the material. For cutting decals I recommend something like a Cricut.
Question:	I am wanting to engrave in leather and cow hide. Which watts would you suggest? Also would be doing wood but main focus is leather and hide
Answer:	I own the 20 watt model and would recommend it. The 15 watt would get the job done but suggest getting the 20 watt.
Question:	Is wifi required on this unit all the time
Answer:	No. The machine only needs to be connected to a computer for operation. No need to connect to the Internet. You can operate the machine offline.
Question:	What do have to set the unit on or can I just set it on a table without anything under it
Answer:	I would suggest that you place a 24" x 24" non flamable piece under the unit. For example, i placed mine on a table, but placed a 2 SF piece of tile under it in the event the laser burnt through whatever i was cutting. This was just a precautiinary measure. I picked one up at a local tile liquidation store for $2.00.

Question:	Does it come pre assembled
Answer:	This laser engraving machine requires simple three-step assembly, and the assembly instructions are included in the package. You can easily complete it.
Question:	Does the head tilt to accomodate curved surfaces
Answer:	JL4 does not support curved surface engraving at the moment. The laser engraving machine needs to be stable when it is working and cannot move during the process. In the future, we can add a rotating roller engraving template to achieve curved surface engraving, so stay tuned!
Question:	Can it engrave on copper 24 gauge sheet
Answer:	No only stainless steel

Answer:	We have found that if the supports are placed on higher surfaces than the item we're engraving it works...as long as it's level.

Answer:	To create your images, you will need to be able to save your images in BITMAP or bmp format. Most image editing software can do that. All basic image editing programs can do that. There are lots of FREE online image converter software options. Just do a search and you'll find many.

Question:	What does ‘first must do top black paint coat’ mean
Answer:	It’s for reflective surfaces. If the laser hits a reflective surface, it will bounce back. It can reflect off and project the laser in other directions. Very dangerous. Always coat reflective surfaces in black washable paint. Or a dry erase marker. Then wipe it away. This will not cut through transparent materials. You need a CO2 laser for that kind of job. The blue diode laser will pass straight through the material even if you coat it with painters tape or black paint. It will only go as deep as an etching.

Answer:	Set up is less than 30 seconds once it is unpacked. It is ready to start your project as soon as you turn it on. It will take a while to upload your project to the laser, 3-15 minutes depending on the file size, and then it takes a while to actually etch the media. Our first project took exactly 1 hour. We etched a black and white photo of our kids first so it was a large file. The good news on that is you can start the project and walk away and come back when it is done.

Question:	What is the maximum RPM of the included spindle
Answer:	It is 10000rpm.
Question:	Can a z-axis probe be used with this cnc router
Answer:	Yes. If you are auto-leveling for a PCB milling operation, you simply connect a wire from A5 on the controller board to the cutter bit and make sure the copper-clad top surface of the PCB is grounded (negative side of power supply). When performing the Auto-level operation (probing), the Z-axis moves down until signal on A5 has been grounded. Using a separate probe may be a bit more complicated as the probe will probably require +5/+12 volts and/or GND. Still, the active-low probe signal is applied to A5. Using an active-high probe would probably require modification of the GRBL firmware. Do not apply more than +5V to the A5 input!
Question:	Could this carve and engrave pistol grips out of wood or plastic
Answer:	Yes, absolutely. But the quality may be hit or miss based on the end mill and material.
Question:	If vented properly, can this cut 1/2" or 3/4" polyurethane foam sheets? If so, will it leave a clean edge
Answer:	The cut foam board smells too strong. It is also easy to burn off the foam, so cutting the foam is not recommended. Thank you!

How to Start the device to work?

1. First Copy all files in USB DISK and save to your PC. This is important to use the machine later.

2. There are three file folders in USB DISK: MAC, WIN, Picture. Select to click "MAC" or "WIN" according to your PC operating system.

3. For the MAC system, Pls open file folder of "CH341SER_MAC", Double Click File of "CH34x_Install_V1.4.pkg" to install the driver. And For WIN system, Pls double click file of "driver."

4. Link Power Cable Line to the power outlet and USB Data Line to PC.

5. Open the file of Software in Folder of MAC or WIN to start work.

Question:	Can I use a 5v pwm signal? How does it know in that case its not getting ~40% of a 12v signal
Answer:	Yes, you can use a 5V PWM Signal to control the power. It States in the specification: PWM/TTL Input：DC3.3V-12V , so 5V will be fine. PWM stands for Pulse Width Modulation. it is a square wave at a fixed frequency that changes it's duty cycle... so if it is on 40% of the cycle and off 60% of the cycle, you will get 40% power. The voltage of the PWM signal is irrelevant, the On-time compared to Off-time is what determines the output. Do a search for "Pulse Width Modulation" and I'm sure you will find all kinds of information on how PWM signals work.
