You have to make sure you adjust the rollers so the bottle stands still whilst you perform the cut. Otherwise, it might not break clean. But overall, you just need to use the regular method displayed for round bottles.

Step 1: Adjusting the Machine

• Mount the attachments: You need to mount the attachments as the picture shows.
• Adjust the cutting length and width: When estimating the width of two rear rollers, you also need to make sure there is enough space for the square bottle.
• Adjust the blade: Loosen the up screw with the hex wrench, adjust the blade of the cutting wheel, and then tighten it firmly.

Step 2: Etching the Glass

• Place the bottle on the machine with the vertical flat side of the bottle against the straight edges of the front and back attachments.
• Set the blade forward to keep it in contact with the glass corners.
• Apply pressure as you rotate the bottle toward one direction with two hands.
• Set the blade straight up when you are etching the flat surface.Keep it firmly against the backstop and keep it moving while you're making the etching.

Step 3: Separating the Bottle

People often use one of these two methods to separate the bottle. You can choose one of them.

Method A. The Flame Method

This method is most commonly used. A burning candle and an ice cube are required for this method.

Method B. Use Hot and Cold Water

Using this method, you will need to alternate between "almost boiling water" and "cold tap water."

Step 4: Smoothing the Edge

• Rub the inside and outside edges lightly with a piece of coarse polishing paper.
• Sprinkle a small amount of the polishing powder on a flat, hard surface. You can also use a glass or metal pie plate or a piece of window glass.
• Dip the edge of the glass in water and then place it on the polishing surface. Start to grind in a circular motion. After a short time, the edge of the glass will become perfectly flat and have a dull, gray appearance.
• Again, smooth the inside and outside edges with the polishing paper.

Answer:	I'm afraid I have not used it long enough to know how often to change the blade. There are three blades embedded in the disk, so that a fresh blade can be had by loosening the disk, rotating it to a new blade, and then re-tightening the disk. The company's email customer service was very cordial and helpful; I'm sure they would be happy to give you an estimate of how long each blade lasts, what factors will affect its longevity, and how to obtain a replacement. The disk is small, so shipping a replacement should be easy.

Answer:	Sorry, our glass bottle cutter does NOT cut bottles lengthwise. Your best bet is to use a rotary tool with a diamond cutting disk (It's not an easy task, but I have cut a few bottles using this method.) Hope this helps.
Question:	Will this cut 1 gallon glass bottles which are about 6 inches in dia
Answer:	Our glass bottle cutter comes with sandpapers that are "80 grit". So any sandpaper with similar grit number will work ( you can do an Amazon search for "80 Grit Sandpapers". ) Although 80 grit sandpaper is helpful to remove the initial sharp-edges, it will leave the surface scratched and frosted. So, If you want a very smooth and clear finish, we recommend that you use multiple sheets of sandpapers with increasingly higher grits. Hope this helps.
Question:	Can it cut different heights
Answer:	Yes, our glass bottle cutter can cut "Square" glass bottles. The square bottle cutting instructions are included in our "How to use" video-guide ( website video-link is included in the user manual.) Also, it's important to note that cutting square bottles are not as direct as cutting around bottles like wine or beer bottles. It needs some practice ( the edges need to be handled steady and slow.) I have successfully separated many square glass bottles. So with little practice, you can too.
Question:	Does this cut lengthwise as well
Answer:	No. With "carbide cutting wheels" that is used in our glass cutter, oil is no longer necessary. The carbide cutting blade is so durable it won't dull easily. Hope this helps.

TIPS:

• Make sure that both hands rotate the bottle at the same time to get a flat line while cutting and not letting the boiling water overflow between the two rubbers band while pouring(The optimal distance between the two rubber rings is less than 1CM). Otherwise the edge of the bottle may not be so flat.
• Please clean up the residual label before cutting the bottle (the glue on the label will shorten the life of the cutter head).
• In order to protect the cutting blade, you can use the cutter oil regularly after a long time of use.

Steps:

• 1. Install the fixing baffle and wheel. Adjust the bottle to the length you want.
• 2.Rotate the bottle carefully through 360 to create a score line.
• 3. Place 2 rubber rings on both side of the score.
• 4. Pour slowly new boiling water over the entire score line between the 2 rubber rings for about 30-40 seconds.
• 5. Pour immediately lots of cold water over the score line after new boiling water until the bottle is automatically separated.
• 6. Smooth the edge with sandpaper.

Answer:	Yes they are already attached but they are adjustable. My particular kit came with a small screwdriver that was needed to loosen and adjust the support wheel location but only in our out on the same track. Very helpful with different size bottles.

Answer:	I haven’t needed them yet but I would start with Fixm’s website.
Question:	Hi, Can it cut 3 liter wine bottles
Answer:	The cut is a typical glass cut in that the material is scored by the glass-cutter and then the bottle is shocked by a rapid temp change or a physical shock and the glass cracks along the scored line (hopefully). The "cutline" is a typical glass cut line and may have a sharp edge that should be sanded to reduce the possibility of cuts if the object is handled.
Question:	how does this item compare to the bindu cutter
Answer:	It can be done but so far I have not been impressed with the results. I can do a better job with a homemade jig that fits the bottle i want to cut. The cutter is designed to work with round bottles and while it can be forced to work with some other shapes the results are not worth the effort for me.
