Answer:	C batteries work. Just FYI I had the light for a 1.5 years. Tough light plenty bright. I get about 4 hrs of bright light before some dimming occurs. Tough light takes drops and bumps. Only issue occurring is in rainy weather the o-rings fail to seal all the water out of the bezel end.

Answer:	It does not appear to be made to take off the focus bell. However the top lens and bezel can be removed and the reflector also taken out to produce a flood style light rather than a focused one, but not in the sense of a candle mode.
