User questions & answers
Question: | Is there a way to hook this up to a water source so I don’t have to refill it |
Answer: | We can ship to Canada, you would just need to pay the extra shipping costs. I checked shipping to Toronto, and USPS Priority Mail would be $71. We factor in about $20 for standard US shipping, so you would need to pay $51. Again, this was to Toronto, so your actual cost may vary, depending on your location. Thanks! |
Question: | What is the warranty on this ice maker |
Answer: | no, the units that I have only require 110 volt. |
Question: | How is this better than original opal |
Answer: | This DOES need hard wiring. It also needs a cord wired to it. The toggle switches kept burning out, so we re-wired with a 30-amp switch and it seems to be working very well so far! Hope that helps! |
Question: | How is this one different from the Opal nugget ice maker |
Answer: | Standard warranty against defective manufactured goods. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Ok...big cost purchase for me...I’ve been waiting to hear reviews. Any updates on previous reviews? Still happy with product |
Answer: | I’ve had mine for about 1 year. Absolutely love it. The ice is just as promised. Sonic ice. Haven’t regretted the purchase at all. The only thing I could complain about is the noise level. This was noted by many, so I knew it might be a problem. My laundry room is right off my kitchen, and I had a table there already, so I just moved it there. I just take a few steps over and get my ice. No big deal. I can’t complain about this because the measurements were there, but it never occurred to me to check the height. My electrician put undercounter lights under my top cabinets. I had 1 that didn’t have the light, and it still barely fit under. So, you might want to double check that. Again, not a complaint, but this is definitely not a portable unit as advertised. However, I could tell that by looking at it, and I wasn’t planning on using it like that. I got mine on Prime Day, so it was a great deal. I would buy it again, especially at that price, every day of the year! |
Question: | Does it keep the ice frozen or does it begin to melt after its made |
Answer: | It does not keep it frozen. It starts to melt after made, but the melted ice drains back into the inlet for water to be re-made as ice. |
Question: | Does it really taste like Sonic Ice |
Answer: | I don't know about Sonic ice as have to drive too far to get it. So, bought my own in the last of NOV, 2019. Bought bottled water to use as our city water is not good. However, In Dec it started acting up. would only make 1/2 a bin and then smelled hot. I unplugged it and waited a day or two and tried again. Still only 1/2 bin. I would like to exchange this for another one and see if it works better. I paid enough for it. First time I called, the lady didn't know what to tell me except I'd have to talk to one of your tech people. Have not had that happen as yet, Please send me another one and pick up this one at same time.....can you do that? |
Question: | will it keep ice frozen |
Answer: | The ice bin does not have any refrigeration in it. The ice eventually melts, but when it does, there are slots in the bin that allow the melt water to fall back into the reservoir, and is made into new nuggets. |
