Answer:	I have had one for many years there; I live in the south so my worst case scenario was that I had some condensation which could cause mildew on the rubber gasket or top of the lid, typically minimum and I simply would periodically clean the exterior and rubber gasket with a spray bottle of either vinegar and water or bleach and water 3 to 1 ratio solution. Be sure to have a minimum of 3" of air space around it for proper air flow and periodically pull it from the any walls to check that rodents have not bothered your cord .
